This film festival will be held until April 1st.
Since the 1920s, film exchanges between Shanghai and Hong Kong have never stopped. They can be called the "Two Cities of Light and Shadow", jointly promoting the diversified development of Chinese films. Cai Liang, director of the Shanghai Office, said that Hong Kong will continue to host a number of international large-scale and exciting celebrations this year, with nearly 150 events held throughout the year and more than 80 in the first half of the year. This month, a number of international and local cultural and artistic events have gathered in Hong Kong. For the first time, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the SAR Government has used the "Arts March" brand to promote cultural and artistic events, reflecting the integrated development of culture and tourism. She revealed that the second "Hong Kong Popular Culture Festival" "Ye Wen Ye Wu" will open next month and will continue to plan special exhibitions, film screenings, stage programs and outreach activities in different forms and angles.
This time "Young Again: A Retrospective of Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui's Hong Kong Films" specially selected eight films starring the two from the 1980s to the new millennium, featuring the first screen collaboration between Cheung and Mui. "Fate" and the pinnacle work " Rouge Button " kicked off the film festival, as well as three masterpieces starring the two, including " Days of Being Wild ", "Across the World" and " A Chinese Ghost Story " starring Leslie Cheung ", among which "Days of Being Wild" will be screened in Canada, and "Across the World" is the latest 4k restored version; the three films starring Anita Mui are " Half a Lifetime ", " Man Forty " and " Zhong Wuyan" ", among which "Half Life" is the latest 4k restored version. This film festival brings these classics back to the big screen and renews their youth through light and shadow.
The influence of Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui also attracted many filmmakers, experts and scholars to participate in this film festival, and jointly helped bring many supporting activities to the audience. The opening forum held at the Shanghai Film Museum on the morning of March 23 attracted director and screenwriter Chen Jiashang, who came specially from Hong Kong. He is the screenwriter of the film "Fate", and Hong Kong actor and director Ding Zijun, who has collaborated with Leslie Cheung on the film. , and the famous scholar and writer Mao Jian, the three shared their past cooperation with Zhang and Mei. Hong Kong film researchers Ho Sze-ying and Qiao Yisi also made a special trip to Shanghai to participate in this film festival. They will bring many post-screening exchanges to the audience, allowing the audience to have a deeper understanding of the behind-the-scenes stories and academic value of the films screened this time.
