Mr. Wang met Li, a female anchor, through a live broadcast platform. During their relationship, Li made up various reasons and demanded more than 210,000 yuan from Mr. Wang. After trial, the Haidian Court sentenced Li to four years in prison and a fine of 40,000 yuan for fraud.
The victim, Mr. Wang, said that he met the female anchor Li through the live broadcast platform, and the two parties chatted with each other on WeChat. In the first chat, Li borrowed 10,000 yuan from him on the grounds that he "needs to file a lawsuit", and later borrowed 100,000 yuan on the grounds of "a lawsuit at home." After these two incidents, the two parties confirmed their relationship. However, during the relationship, the two parties only met three times and spent the rest of the time chatting on WeChat. After that, Li asked for money in the name of heart surgery and gastric bleeding surgery. During the relationship, he transferred money to Li dozens of times.
According to the defendant Li’s statement, because Mr. Wang often watched live broadcasts, bought gifts, and chatted with him, the two parties added WeChat messages to each other after they became familiar with each other. On his birthday, Mr. Wang bought a gift of 5,000 yuan in the live broadcast room. He felt that the other party wanted to confess to him. Later, he successively borrowed money from Mr. Wang for living expenses. Li believes that Mr. Wang often exchanges gifts in the live broadcast room and may have certain financial strength in real life. In addition, his living expenses are high, so he has evil thoughts. Until Mr. Wang invited him to meet his parents, he refused and the two sides quarreled, so he blocked Mr. Wang on WeChat. But when I thought that I had spent a lot of money from him, I added Mr. Wang’s WeChat account back but stopped contacting him.
After trial, the court found that between November 2020 and June 2021, the defendant Li made up fictitious reasons for hospitalization and surgery, and defrauded the victim Mr. Wang into transferring money to him several times through WeChat, Alipay, bank cards, etc., totaling 21 More than 10,000 yuan. The money was not refunded.
After trial, the court held that the defendant Li fabricated facts and defrauded others of huge amounts of property, and his behavior constituted the crime of fraud. In view of his truthful confession, guilty plea and acceptance of punishment, the defendant Li was finally sentenced to four years in prison for fraud and fined 40,000 yuan.
After the verdict was pronounced, the defendant Li did not appeal. The judgment has now taken effect. Judge

You should carefully verify the identity of the other party, be wary of "love" routines, and avoid falling into the trap of fraud in the name of love.
