The first performance of the "Fado Night Concert" organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government was held at the Dome Theater on the evening of March 1, and the scene was lively. The Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Liang Huimin, the Consultant of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Luo Haozhi, the Acting Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office, Cheng Weidong, the Chairman of the Oriental Foundation’s Office in Macao, Catrina Cotinelli da Costa, the Fado singers Tiago Correia and Bárbara Santos presided over a toasting ceremony before the performance to welcome the whole party. The concert was held at the Dome Theater, a world heritage building located in the historic center of Macau. The Dome Theater is one of the few existing neoclassical-style buildings in Macao, with a distinct Greek Revival style on the exterior. There is an outdoor platform at the entrance of the theater, which used to overlook the scenery of the South Bay. The front facade of the building is composed of Ionic classical columns and Roman arches forming an entrance arcade, which has the function of blocking the sun and rain. The upper part of the theater is a triangular classical pediment, with a semi-relief decoration of a harp symbolizing music and art in the center. Fado was also included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011. Through this event, the audience can appreciate the touching charm of "World Heritage" superimposed on "Intangible Cultural Heritage" music.
The "Fado Night" concert will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 8 pm at the Dome Theater from March 1 to 24. Portuguese professional fado singers tiago correia and bárbara santos are invited to perform in Macao. There are many Fado songs, including Tiago’s personal works and classic Fado songs.
Portuguese fado (fado) is Portugal's traditional music, which originated in Lisbon in the 19th century.
