From March 6 to 9, the National Center for the Performing Arts' original national opera "Mountains and Seas" will usher in its fourth round of performances.
The opera "Love between Mountains and Seas" is adapted from the popular TV series of the same name in 2021. It is jointly created by composer Meng Weidong, screenwriter Yi Ming, director Wang Xiaodian and other first-line artists, and will premiere in 2022. The script creation of the opera "Mountains and Seas" is based on the TV series and fully integrates the artistic characteristics of the opera. In the original drama, there are impressive characters such as the enthusiastic young cadre Ma Defu, the smart and stubborn rural girl Li Shuihua, the witty poverty alleviation cadre Chen Jinshan, and the affectionate Debao. Classic storylines such as encounters with sandstorms and power outages have all been brought to the opera stage, using ordinary and vivid portraits of small people to paint a historical picture of contemporary human migration.
The music of the national opera "Mountains and Seas" was written by Meng Weidong. The composer fully absorbed elements of folk music such as Ningxia "Hua'er", northern Shaanxi folk songs, Shanxi folk songs, etc. The music of the whole opera has beautiful melody, a large number of catchy arias, and has a distinct regional feel.
