On that day, local villagers carried eight large pigs into the Xue Family Temple. The big pigs participating in the sacrifice are selected by each village group, and each group chooses one pig. There are big pigs with golden flowers on their heads, a red seal on their backs, a red orange in their mouth, and red ropes on their legs. Among them, a fat pig weighing 339.9 kilograms became the "King of Pigs" in the New Year and was placed first among the sacrifices. Subsequently, the Shanchong Village Folk Culture Ceremony began. Lucky pig dolls, lucky sachets, lucky red envelopes, Thai character keychains...a dazzling array of "lucky culture" gifts make villagers and tourists feel a strong festive atmosphere.

Xue Dexing, president of Shanchong Village Elderly Association, said that Shanchong Village has a long history of racing big pigs. In the past, at the beginning of every year, every household of the Xue clan in Shanzhong Village would carefully select a piglet to raise. After a year, it would be slaughtered on the eighth day of the first lunar month to worship heaven and ancestors. Later, it gradually evolved into the distinctive "big pig competition" Folk activities. It is understood that in the past 30 years, the local "Pig King" championship record was set in 2011, with a net weight of 356.5 kilograms.
