Carl Weathers, who played key characters in "Rocky" and "Star Wars," died Thursday at the age of 76.
Stallone posted a pre-recorded video on social platforms on Friday evening local time to mourn this old friend who had worked with him for many years: "He was a part of my life and the key to my career success. I felt this way when I first met him. He is an extraordinary person, but he does not realize how great he is. Without him, "Rocky" would not be as good as it is."
"Carl Weathers has many talents, voice, body, presence, athleticism, and most importantly , his heart and soul... the loss is too great. I am very glad that my life has intersected with him. Keep fighting, Apollo."
Weathers was born in New Orleans on January 14, 1948, and entered San Diego State as an adult. He played college football and helped his alma mater win the NJCAA championship in 1969. He also received a degree in theater arts. Weathers joined the Oakland Raiders as a professional player in 1970 and played two seasons in the NFL. After retiring, he turned to acting.
The release of "Rocky" in 1976 brought Weathers a turning point in his acting career. In the film, he played Stallone's rival Apollo Creed. Forty years later, the two reunited at the Golden Globe Awards. Stallone joked: "I wrote the script. I don't understand why I let you win."
Weathers' role ended in "Rocky 4" , and then Stallone developed the "Creed" series, in which black star Michael B. Jordan played the son of Apollo Creed. Weathers also played Colonel Dillon in "The Predator" in 1987, opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger:
Weathers received his first Emmy Award nomination for his acting career in "The Mandalorian". Ru, Ding Jialin, Uncle Fried Chicken and others are deeply saddened by his death:
In addition, it is said that the screenwriters of the first three seasons of "True Detective" despised the currently airing fourth season of "True Detective" (Land of Night).
Nic Pizzolatto, the screenwriter of the first three seasons, strongly denied that he had anything to do with "Land of Darkness", even though he was named as the executive producer of the fourth season: "I have no contribution to the plot of "Land of Darkness" or anything else. This is not My fault”, so if Season 4 is a backhanded reference to Season 1, he didn’t do such a stupid thing and it’s not his business.
Season 4 writer and director Issa López was responsible for the scripts for all six episodes of Season 4. She generously stated that as the creator of the scripts for the first three seasons, pizzalatto had the right to complain and write them herself (Season 4) ) when writing the script, I have great reverence for the fruits of the labor of my predecessors, and am extremely grateful to the fans of the show. I am not that stingy, and I can express my opinions if I have any. It is just for fun.
