"Remembering Nostalgia" is a large-scale TV documentary jointly sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the State Administration of Radio and Television, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and organized and filmed by China Central Radio and Television. The tenth season of "Remember Nostalgia" constructs a grand picture of China's rural revitalization from a more diverse perspective through three series: "Rural Revitalization", "Come on New Farmers" and "The Direction of Home".
Jiuzihe Town is located at the southern foot of the Dabie Mountains and the northern mountainous area of Luotian County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. Almost every household here is involved in the cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials. The annual output of Poria accounts for one-fifth of China's total output, and Gastrodia elata accounts for one-fifth of China's total output. One-sixth of the output, it can create an output value of nearly 700 million yuan a year.
From collecting herbs on the mountain to planting them under the forest, people today “move” the cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials down the mountain to realize substitute cultivation. Generation after generation of Jiuzihe people have not forgotten the foundation of survival, continued the tradition, and let the scent of medicine linger to this day.
The protection of the past will eventually benefit the future generations. Today, the Jiuzi River is filled with pine forests like the sea, and the oil paint of nature dyes the autumn forests all over the mountains and plains. Rural eco-tourism will become another new engine for the revitalization of the Dabie Mountains.
