At 2:09 on January 23, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang. At present, the first batch of central disaster relief materials have arrived in the earthquake area, all trains affected by the earthquake have resumed operation, and the production and living order of the people is normal.
In response to the picture and text information circulating on the Internet that "a building in a community in Aksu was shaken by an earthquake", we verified with relevant departments and found that the building in the picture is a residential building in Phoenix City Community in Aksu City. The investigation did not find any damage to the building caused by the earthquake. There are potential safety hazards such as tilting. The pictures uploaded online are visual errors of building tilt caused by the design of the building and the shooting angle.
The real situation
The pictures, texts and videos spread by some self-media accounts about serious road damage and contiguous house collapse in Wushi County are false. Netizens used AI automatic generation technology to combine information about the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Wushi County with old Internet pictures and even foreign news pictures to create new content and publish it on the Internet platform, seriously misleading other netizens.
Reminder: All netizens are requested to refer to official information, consciously resist and actively report false information online. For illegal activities such as deliberately fabricating and disseminating rumors online and disrupting public order, the cyberspace department will work with the public security organs to crack down severely in accordance with the law.
