roll inward or lie flat? Dancer Wang Zihan used dance to present this hot topic that troubles contemporary people. On the evening of January 19, the dance theater "Ke Pavilion" was performed at the Jixiang Grand Theater. As part of the "Young Dancers Performance" series of the 2023 Beijing Dance Performance Season, "Can Pavilion" was jointly created by Wang Zihan, deputy director of the Chinese Classical Dance Department of Beijing Dance Academy, and modern dance choreographer Bai Hua and many other dance industry colleagues. It is the first work created by Wang Zihan Young Dancer Studio, and it is also Wang Zihan's first self-directed and self-performed dance theater.
"There is a pavilion in the mountains of Mount Lu, where people can stop and rest for a while while climbing. Later generations named it 'Ke Pavilion'." Talking about the original intention of creating this work, Wang Zihan said, " Everyone's circumstances, experiences and experiences will make the 'pavilion' in their hearts different. Whether it is rolling inward or lying flat, I hope that through this work, the audience can discover and explore themselves and find the depth of their hearts. The most authentic feeling."
"Can Pavilion" is based on a contemporary perspective. The director chose a free and open dance theater form to explore. Wang Zihan used his classical body trained for several years to meet the unconstrained imagination of modern dance director Bai Hua. The small but beautiful stage space focuses on people and dance, the freehand costume shapes downplay the boundaries between ancient and modern times, the simple box-shaped space is a metaphor for the inner wall, and the intuitive audio-visual scenes arouse the resonance of the audience, breaking the boundaries of time and space to convey the classical spirit. In this unexpected mountain rain, visitors in the pavilion can stop and watch the scenery, but they also become the scenery in the eyes of others. Life is like a reverse journey, "you can go on it, but you can also stop it."
As one of the seven major sections of this performance season, the "Young Dancers Performance" series is based on the outstanding achievements of the college's young dancers studio project. Liu Yan's young dancers studio dance drama "Blue" will be performed from November 2023. Skirt", Wang Yabin Young Dancer Studio dance drama "Tsing Yi" and Hua Xiaoyi Young Dancer Studio dance drama "One Moment". The dance theater "Ke Pavilion" launched by Wang Zihan Young Dancer Studio explores stage art forms and bridges ancient and modern spiritual cultures. At the end of the 2023 Beijing Dance Performance Season, it once again responds to and interprets the hopes and visions at the beginning of the planning of the performance season: On the practical platform of openness, inclusiveness, exchanges and mutual learning, and joint development, we will use high-quality works to tell Chinese stories, promote the Chinese spirit, cultivate dance art talents in the new era, and promote the development of dance art in the new era.
