The barbed wire curtain rose, and a dark Shawshank Prison appeared in front of it. The huge cage made the sense of oppression spread from the stage to the audience... Last night, the annual blockbuster "Shawshank" co-created by Longma Society and Chinese Dream The Chinese version of the drama "The Redemption" successfully completed its premiere at Shanghai Cultural Plaza. On the stage, starring Dashan and 11 foreign actors from 8 countries around the world performed this world-class IP in fluent Chinese, and also conveyed the bright power of Rebirth to the audience.
The Chinese version of "The Shawshank Redemption" is directed by Zhang Guoli and is the first to feature all foreign actors and all Chinese dialogue. In Shawshank prison, despair is everywhere. The narrator of the story, "Red" played by Dashan, is an old prisoner here. He knows the rules of the game here best: "Only by giving up hope can you survive. All efforts and dreams are not only useless but also dangerous."
who was unjustly imprisoned Banker Andy broke all this. He brought the fire of hope into this darkness and it has not been extinguished for more than 20 years. The fire of hope finally brings Andy to freedom, and also melts the prison in the hearts of Red and all the prisoners.
Being able to speak fluent Chinese is not new, but being able to perform well in Chinese dramas is no easy task. Actors constantly challenge themselves during the rehearsal process and break through language and cultural differences.
On the basis of returning to the text, allowing the audience to re-enter the story in their native language, "The Shawshank Redemption" has more or less added an oriental flavor. "Let's ride on the donkey and read the songbook, we'll see" and "If you have money, don't make a bastard." Some sudden "quips" broke the lifelessness of the prison and made the characters come alive on the Chinese stage. In the play, Zhang Guoli focuses on the clue that establishes trust and friendship between Rhett and Andy. Whether it is the scene design or the performance of the two, the audience can feel the friendship between the two people growing up in a desperate situation.
After its premiere in Shanghai, the Chinese version of "The Shawshank Redemption" will continue to be performed at the Shanghai Cultural Plaza from January 19th to 21st, and will meet the Beijing audience from January 25th to 28th.
