Before the street is opened, the most important thing is the project in progress in front of me - opening the Guancheng River cover in Guiyang. The large stone that is currently being lifted by the crane is more than 1 meter thick. This is actually the cover plate on the top of the Guancheng River. Because it was too thick, it could only be cut into strips and then lifted up and removed bit by bit.
Disordered sewage discharge once made the Yudai River "dark"
Guancheng River, formerly known as Yudai River, runs through Guiyang from north to south. Later, as the city developed rapidly and the population continued to gather, a large amount of sewage was discharged into the rivers in an orderly manner, causing the water bodies to become increasingly black and smelly. And because the Guancheng River is relatively low-lying and prone to waterlogging, 80% of the Guancheng River was later covered with cover, and it has since become a large ditch with mixed flow of rain and sewage that has no purification, ecological or landscape functions. Later, people formed some markets on these covers. Many younger children in Guiyang City had no idea that there was such a river under their feet.
Make every effort to manage and bring back the "Mother River" in memory
Now, the cover of the Guancheng River has been reopened, which shows that Guiyang has full confidence. Where does the confidence come from? It comes from two sunken reclaimed water plants in the upper reaches of the Guancheng River that have been put into use in recent years.
What is a sunken reclaimed water plant? This is the site of the old Liuguangmen Stadium in Guiyang City, which has now been turned into an urban complex and street park. Just underneath it is a recycled water plant that can process 120,000 tons of sewage every day. Together with another reclaimed water plant, it centrally treats all sewage that is about to enter the Guancheng River. After reaching the Grade A standard, it is then discharged into the Guancheng River. The Grade A standard for recycled water means that there are no impurities and no odor in the water, and fish, shrimp and aquatic plants can survive well.
Along the Nanming River, Guiyang has deployed a total of 34 such recycled water plants to provide full coverage and segmented treatment of millions of tons of various types of sewage flowing into the Nanming River every day. If the discharge of any river section fails to meet the standards, the river section will be severely punished and the "faucet" that pollutes the Nanming River will be closed.
With the joint efforts of all Guiyang people and the "five-level river chiefs" along the coast, the black and smelly water body of Nanming River has been completely eliminated, the ecological condition of the basin has been fully restored, and the water quality has been stable at surface level III or IV for a long time. The "Mother River" with clear water and flowing water in the memory of Guiyang people is back again.
In the past two days, the reporter met an old Guiyang man who had lived near Taiping Road for more than 60 years. His joy was beyond words! He said that the river in Guancheng where he could buy goldfish when he was a child is back and even more beautiful! Regarding this 3.2-kilometer-long Guancheng River, Guiyang City's attitude is that "the cover can be used to uncover the whole thing." This is the confidence for Guiyang's urban development!
