Sun Xianghui, director of the China Film Archive and director of the China Film Art Research Center, said in an interview with reporters that film restoration is of great significance. Many films are old and the preservation conditions were not good in the past. This leads to problems such as fading, scars, stains and breaks on the film. Restoration can restore images from the past, allowing audiences to relive classic movies.
At present, under this plan, the restoration work of movies such as "Plan A", "Shu Mountain: The Legend of the New Shu Mountain Swordsman", "Su Qier", "Underground Love" and "Wealth and Power" have been completed. Among them, the 4k restored version of "Underground" premiered on the 12th.
This love movie was released in 1986 and was directed by Hong Kong director Kwan Kam-peng, starring Chow Yun-fat, Jin Yanling and others. The film has won many nominations such as Best Picture and Best Director at the 6th Hong Kong Film Awards.
Guan Jinpeng said that this restoration allowed him to relive the "texture of film" again, and he was also satisfied with the restoration effects in various aspects such as color restoration and character makeup. (End)
