Hello, Changyuan, see you again!
After an absence of three years, Suzhou Garden Changyuan has resumed opening today (January 8). After the restoration, real-name reservations will be implemented. Free reservations are only open on the first Monday and Tuesday of each month. The maximum number of reservations per day is 50 people.
Changyuan is located at No. 22, Miaotang Lane, Gusu District. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and is a typical small private garden in the south of the Yangtze River. Tong Huan, a famous garden architect in the Republic of China, praised in "Jiangnan Garden Chronicle": "There are still small gardens in the city, with Chang Garden and Hu Garden being the most popular." The total area of Changyuan House is 4.14 acres, and the garden part occupies about 2.2 acres. Although the scale is small, the gardening techniques are delicate and the overall layout is exquisite. As a model of Jiangnan gardens, Chang Garden has been reproduced 1:1 in the Beijing Garden Museum.
The layout of Changyuan adopts the closed form of a circular tour, with the pool as the center, and the halls, stone boats, and small bridges are arranged sequentially from north to south according to their size. The winding corridor in the east of the garden rises and falls, with a small pavilion in the middle protruding slightly, facing the water's edge. The bank of the pool is made of lake stones, and flowers and trees are planted along the pool, such as white pine, green maple, and pomegranate, either slanting out or lying low, in a well-proportioned manner. A curved bridge spans the south end of the pool, enriching the landscape. Looking from the north to the south, the scenery is deep and elegant, like a natural picture.
Block No. 32, where Changyuan is located, is located on the west side of the ancient city of Suzhou. The block is rich in historical and cultural relics, showing the life style of Gusu people. In order to promote the protection and renewal of neighborhood No. 32, our district introduced the Vanke Youxiong Hotel brand to "resource activation" of Changyuan, and planned to integrate a total of 3,800 square meters of old houses around Changyuan. During the renovation, the principle of sporadic renovation with minimal intervention was followed, the original structure and architectural features were maintained, and the original appearance of the ancient building was restored. The renovated Changyuan Garden continues to be open to the public, and the hotel rooms are located on the adjacent east side to ensure that tourists' visit is not affected. At the same time, it provides residents with the opportunity to combine accommodation and in-depth garden tours, allowing them to more immersively experience the charm of the garden and the Soviet style. Life. Today, the hotel has officially opened, and Changyuan also presents a Soviet-style picture of "house and garden integrated".
