The Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province publicly pronounced the verdict on the child abduction and trafficking case of the defendants Hufuji and Tang Lixia in accordance with the law. The defendant Hufuji was sentenced to death for the crime of child abduction, with a two-year suspended execution, deprived of political rights for life, and all personal property was confiscated. The defendant Hufuji was restricted from commuting his sentence; the defendant Tang Lixia was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of child trafficking, deprived of political rights for life, and all personal property confiscated; at the same time, the defendants Hufuji and Tang Lixia were ordered to jointly compensate the plaintiff in the incidental civil lawsuit for material losses in RMB More than 500,000 yuan.
The court found that from 1997 to 1998, the defendants Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia abducted four children, Li Mouhui, Guo Mouzhen, Yang Mouhao and Li Mouhao, for the purpose of selling. In 2001, the defendant Hu Fuji and others abducted the child Yang Mouyu for the purpose of selling. The defendants Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia jointly abducted and trafficked four children for the purpose of selling. Hu Fuji and others abducted one child for the purpose of selling. Both of their actions constituted the crime of child abduction. The court made the above judgment based on the facts, nature and circumstances of the two defendants' crimes.
On the day of the sentencing, Guo Gangtang and his wife wept and comforted each other.
Before the sentencing, Guo Gangtang told the Elephant News reporter that his son Guo Zhen would not arrive at the scene. He said that as a teacher, Guo Zhen had a heavy workload near the end of the term. "In addition, the children are also afraid. If they hear the verdict is like the Sun Zhuo case, they may not be able to bear it." Guo Gangtang said frankly that he couldn't sleep after learning that the verdict was to be announced. He felt that the results of more than 20 years of hard work were finally coming to fruition, " I hope that these years of misery can come to an end."
Before departure, Guo Gangtang's wife sat on the bed with relatives and friends in the room, recalling the experience of searching for her son over the years, she burst into tears. Guo Gangtang also held his wife's hand in the room to comfort her, asking her to calm down first.
Guo Gangtang also said that during these times he compared his family's cases with some of these people's child trafficking cases, and he thought a lot while studying these cases. Guo Gangtang said that he believed that the sentencing was not the end. "There are many other things that we need to jointly speak out and work hard to advance."

The case was heard in the first instance at the Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province on July 7, 2023. On December 27, the first instance of the case was pronounced.
