State Grid Hangzhou Xiaoshan Asian Games Village Charging Station is the first charging station in China that has high-power, wireless charging, and V2G functions at the same time. The station was built and put into operation by the State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company. It is equipped with eight 500-kilowatt high-power charging devices, eight wireless charging parking spaces and eight V2G charging piles.

According to reports, by the end of 2022, the number of new energy vehicles in Hangzhou has exceeded 500,000, accounting for about 40% of the province. With the popularization of new energy electric vehicles, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company seized the opportunity of the Asian Games to actively help the development of green transportation in Hangzhou, and strive to build a moderately advanced, well-balanced, intelligent and efficient charging infrastructure to meet citizens' needs for the convenience of electric vehicle charging.

"The charging principle of the wireless charging facilities in the Asian Games Village charging station is similar to that of wireless mobile phones and wireless earphones in our daily life. The charging facilities and the coils in the car transmit and receive electric energy respectively. Compared with wired charging, the wireless charging mode 'stop and charge' is more convenient, and at the same time avoids the trouble of a unified interface for contact charging and the safety risk of exposed conductors." Li Haoshuai, a staff member of the State Grid Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Power Supply Company, introduced.

It is worth mentioning that the Qianjiang Century City demonstration charging station is equipped with eight 60kW bidirectional V2G charging piles, which can realize millisecond-level real-time smart load dispatching, allowing new energy electric vehicles to "interact" with the power grid in two directions. For example, during peak electricity consumption in summer, fully charged electric vehicles can "feed back" the grid through V2G equipment.

"Combining the three leading international charging technologies of wireless charging, high power, and V2G at the Hangzhou Asian Games Village charging station is our exploration of the future charging mode of electric vehicles. At the same time, we are working hard to promote the full coverage of charging facilities in 49 Asian Games competition venues in Hangzhou, and build a '0.9 km charging circle' in the Asian Games Village. We hope that with the help of large-scale international events such as the Asian Games, the concept of green travel and low-carbon travel will be more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people." said Ma Chuang, director of the marketing department of State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company.
