Recently, IC Insights, a research institute, released a report that due to the sluggish demand in the memory market, it is expected that the memory leader , Samsung will be affected, and the revenue in the third quarter will decline to 18.29 billion US dollars, a decrease of 19% from the previous quarter. Meanwhile, TSMC's third-quarter revenue is expected to reach $20.2 billion, up 11 percent from the previous quarter. This means that TSMC's quarterly revenue will surpass Samsung's, ranking first in the global semiconductor revenue list for the first time, with Samsung in second place, Intel third.

TSMC, Samsung, and Intel rank first in the global semiconductor industry, and their ups and downs have always attracted external attention. In last year's revenue ranking, Samsung's semiconductor revenue reached US$82.019 billion, winning the world's leading semiconductor supplier, Intel ranked second, and TSMC third.
However, with the sluggish demand in the storage market this year, product prices continued to decline, affecting Samsung's shipments and revenue in memory chips. IC Insights expects Samsung's third-quarter revenue to fall to $18.29 billion, a decrease of 19% from the previous quarter. TSMC maintained its market share in logic chip foundry. On September 8, TSMC released its August revenue of US$7.074 billion, a record high in a single month.
Samsung is also temporarily at a disadvantage in competing with TSMC in the logic chip foundry market. In May of this year, Samsung vice-chairman Lee Jae-yong announced that he would invest US$355 billion in chips, biotechnology and other fields in the next five years. At the same time, Samsung started mass production of the 3-nanometer process in its foundry in June, but the yield rate has been questioned by users, and it is in a state of applause and unpopularity. Although TSMC's 3-nanometer process has not yet been mass-produced, it has received large orders for Apple's M2 Pro chips. Intel, Qualcomm , MediaTek , and Nvidia are also its potential customers. Mo Dakang, a semiconductor expert at
, previously wrote that TSMC's success is not achieved overnight, and is closely related to its customer-first philosophy, foundry culture, talent gathering, investment enhancement, and excellent corporate management. The basic principle of Semiconductor remains unchanged. Chip manufacturing is a systematic project, which is closely related to the collaborative management of production lines and talents. In this regard, TSMC may have a slight advantage. At the same time, in the future competition of advanced process technology, lithography occupies a very important position, and TSMC and ASML have in-depth cooperation in lithography technology. However, Mo Dakang also pointed out that the gap in this advantage may gradually narrow in a longer period of time, and each has its own ups and downs.
