Recently, National Bureau of Statistics Guangdong Survey Team released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August. In August, the month-on-month CPI index in Guangdong changed from an increase of 0.2% in the previous month to a decrease of 0.3%.
Specifically, in August, food prices in Guangdong changed from a 2.1% increase in the previous month to flat, affecting the CPI increase of about 0.01 percentage point. Among them, the prices of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits fell by 2.2% and 1.1% respectively. The price of pork continued to rise month-on-month, up 1.5% month-on-month, but the increase was 13.6 percentage points lower than the previous month.
Non-food prices fell by 0.4%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, affecting CPI to drop by about 0.36 percentage points. Among them, affected by the decline in international oil prices, the prices of gasoline, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fell by 4.8%, 5.3%, and 1.1% respectively in August; the decline in fuel prices combined with the impact of the epidemic, the price of air tickets fell by 12.5%, and the rental fee of transportation vehicles fell. 4.1%; Affected by the rise in international gold prices, the prices of gold jewelry and platinum jewelry rose by 2.5% and 3.9% respectively.
It is worth noting that August is the peak summer tourism season. Affected by the epidemic, traditional long-distance tours have been transformed into local tours and surrounding tours, resulting in a 1.8% increase in hotel accommodation in Guangdong and a 3.3% increase in movie and performance ticket prices.
According to data from the Guangzhou Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, in August, Guangzhou's CPI fell by 0.5% month-on-month. In terms of items, the prices of transportation and communications fell by 2.1%, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol fell by 0.3%, and the prices of education, culture and entertainment fell by 0.4%.
