Wu Yusen is a symbol and a milestone in the Hong Kong gunfight film. Every time I think of his "The True Colors of a Hero" and "The Two Heroes" can always refresh the spirit. But recall that in "Hot Detective" to stop vomiting, Wu Yusen went to Hollywood, and then the Chinese film series "Red Cliff" and "Tai Ping Wheel" were filmed. There have been no serious gunfights in more than 20 years! So when the 71-year-old Wu Yusen regained "The Hunt", the gunfight scene in the trailer had already burned me.
Yes, I will be satisfied as long as the shootout of "The Hunt" is well filmed. This is my biggest expectation of Wu Yusen. The reason is obvious. Due to copyright reasons, "The Hunt" has little room for plotting. With jewels in front, Du Qiu was framed and found out the truth while fleeing. In the end, he defeated the villain and gained his innocence. Basically, the number will not change much. What is important is the cooperation between Chinese and Japanese actors and the presentation of the pictures. The result of
proves that Wu Yusen's treasured sword is not old, and the shootout and action scenes of "The Hunt" can satisfy the demands of movie fans. The first is the contrast of the atmosphere and the control of the details. Most gunfight movies only have big scenes where bullets fly randomly, but in Wu Yusen's gunfight scenes, you can always see love and the world. Soon after the opening, the first shootout was worth the price. Du Qiu strayed into the izakaya, and the moment he wanted to help, the audience saw the rivers and lakes; Du Qiu and Yamura "jointly" killed the Quartet in the room until they entered. At the hospital, Shi Yamura asked Rika to untie the handcuffs, and the audience saw the affection; at the same time, Wu Yusen was also unable to avoid the vulgarity. In the fighting scene between Du Qiu and Yamura, the audience saw the intentional white pigeon. In fact, the most important thing in gunfight movies is not "shape" but "god". The breakthrough of "The Hunt" is not in the story, but in Wu Yusen's own style, his understanding of the world and chivalry, and the successful infusion of what fans want. In the movie, this is the biggest breakthrough.
Before chatting with the photographer Huang Yongheng of "The True Colors of Heroes" and talked about the director he most wanted to work with, he answered Wu Yusen without hesitation, and then chatted with me about the cooperation of the two people in "The True Colors of Heroes". I know that watching "The True Colors of Heroes" before is just watching the excitement. Shooting police and robber gunfights was popular in the 1980s and 1990s, but Wu Yusen was the object of learning for all other directors. For example, close-up shots of bullets hitting the wall leaving bullet holes. In order to improve efficiency, most crews would use a plasterboard with reaction bombs. In dealing with things, only Wu Yusen is the most particular. He asked to make holes in the real wall, put the reaction bombs in, and paint again, the effect is more real. It is also a shootout, and Wu Yusen has always been meticulous and striving for perfection.
So this time I watched "The Manhunt", I also paid special attention to the details. I felt that although Wu Yusen was old, he still maintained his original intention and enthusiasm for the movie. From the first assassination mission of Ziyu and Hongxia to the back Duqiu and Yamura's several confrontations, and then to the climax of the gun battle at the end of the drug factory, the gun battle scene has been fully utilized, and each gun battle scene will have different ideas, interspersed with the plot, and the fight has a cause and effect. In addition, Wu Yusen has done almost perfect in every small detail, the state of the bullet passing through the glass, the effect that the bullet should have after it is injected into the human body, and even the matching of props on the table and the interspersed use of slow mirrors have reached the peak. It can be said that through "The Hunt", Wu Yusen once again told the audience that he is the No. 1 in the shootout movie. On this basis, the film also comes with features such as speedboat chase on the water and drag racing on the winding mountain road. In all fairness, the speedboat scene is very flammable and stable, but the car chase scene is slightly unsatisfactory. After watching the ending subtitles, I found that it was a Japanese team. The Hong Kong team will be better.
Of course, Wu Yusen's creative techniques are still constantly changing. Compared with the pure male dramas of the era of "Heroes", "The Hunt" is more soft and balanced, and it is more in line with the tastes of female audiences, which makes me feel quite accident. There is not much mention of the love between men and women in the film, and it has kept the rivers and lakes and chivalrous fans throughout the film. Except for Zhang Hanyu and Masaharu Fukuyama’s male and female counterparts, another group of female and female counterparts by He Zhiyuan and Wu Feixia, the director’s love to the two people There is not much ink on the relationship between the characters and the background, but the passage between yin and yang and the change in He Zhiyuan’s identity can still bring people some touch. In addition, I didn’t expect that Kunimura Hayabusa, which I like very much, was also in the movie, which was a small surprise.
"The Hunt" is not a perfect movie, but Wu Yusen still strives for perfection in the signature gunfight scene. After "Hot Detective", the most satisfying feedback for fans is that I am the generation who grew up watching Wu Yusen's movies. I don't need more reasons to support his movies.
