Ye Wen was born in 1893, formerly known as Ye Jiwen, and used to be Ye Yi. His ancestral home is Sangyuan, Nanhai County, Guangdong Province. He graduated from Hong Kong St. Stephen's College. Under the tutelage of Chen Huashun and Liang Bi, he was the founder of the Wing Chun system. Ip Man changed the teaching method of Wing Chun boxing to a simple, popular and plain teaching method, which was originally secret and not taught, and became a series of famous boxing.

Ye Wen was born in 1893 in a "landlord" family in Foshan, Guangdong. Because the family was very rich, Chen Hua, the successor of Wing Chun and nicknamed "Looking for Qian Hua", also rented the Ye family's ancestral hall as a martial arts hall. His mother saw that Ye Wen hadn't been physically strong since he was a child, and learning a little bit of kungfu would be helpful to keep fit, so she persuaded Ye's father to let Ye Wen follow Chen Huashun as a teacher and start learning arts.

Ye Wen showed good talents, and his boxing skills were well-developed. Chen Huashun was also very satisfied with him, and even more so. In 1908, 15-year-old Ye Wen went to St. Stephen's College in Stanley, Hong Kong to study. At that time, at the end of the corrupt and dark Qing Dynasty, the Chinese were discriminated against and humiliated. And in the school is no exception, British and American students often bully Chinese students. Because of his short stature, Ye Wen certainly became the focus of their bullying.

As a result, Ye Wen began to choose forbearance, but later when he couldn't bear it, he fought back and beat the foreign students all over the floor after punching. When foreign students who had practiced boxing and fighting in other schools heard about it, they took the initiative to challenge, but they were all beaten by Ye Wen. In this way, Ye Wen became famous and became a campus star.

When Ye Wen was 20 years old, he chose to return to Foshan to inherit his ancestral business. However, the good times did not last long. Soon Japan invaded China. During this period, the entire Foshan area's industry and commerce were controlled and occupied by the Japanese. The Ye family also turned from rich to poor, and even food and clothing were a problem. It is reported that at this moment, the Japanese took the initiative to offer an olive branch to the well-known Ye Wen-asking him to become the martial arts coach of the gendarmerie. Ye Wen flatly refused, on the grounds that national integrity is more important than Mount Tai.

As for whether Ye Wen can fight in actual combat, it is impossible to know Ye Wen's real martial arts strength from competitions in history, but if he can teach an apprentice like Bruce Lee, Ye Wen's actual combat ability must be very strong. In addition, from the memories of Ye Wen's disciples, Zhongye knows that Ye Wen is a hidden master. The law and order in Hong Kong was very chaotic. One day, when Ip Man, who was over 70 years old, was out for a walk, he was robbed by robbers. As a result, Ye Wen beat them directly to his parents with lightning fast Wing Chun. In his later years, Grandmaster Ye Wen, in addition to practicing martial arts, most liked drinking tea with his three or five disciples or friends. Occasionally I will play a few rounds of Mahjong. In midsummer, he likes watching cricket fighting best. Sometimes he went to watch dog fights with his fellow townsman, "snake-shaped tricky hand" Liang Jiafang. In December 1972, Ip Man died in Hong Kong at the age of 79. People in the Wing Chun school unanimously praised him as the great master of the Wing Chun school. In the eyes of the world, people who practice martial arts are probably rough people with strong bodies and knives and guns. They can't match the gentleman Qianqian. In history, Ye Wen is precisely the latter, "warm and moist as jade, Qianqian gentleman."
