The Ministry of Education of Singapore has instructed the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University to empty some student dormitories for use as "government isolation facilities". In addition, the government's inter-departmental anti-epidemic working group also stated that students, school staff, medical staff, and senior nursing staff who returned from mainland China after January 14 must apply for 14 days of absentee leave, regardless of nationality. The authorities emphasized that this is not a home isolation order, and employees do not need to take annual leave.
If the epidemic begins to spread in Singapore, these government isolation facilities may also serve as isolation rooms for confirmed cases to prevent community outbreaks.
