一、各自有特別含義：
1、what about表示做什麼事情怎麼樣。含義後面偏重於接什麼事，(用於引出與之前內容相關的新的話題或觀點)
例句：
I like English ,chinese and math, what about you?
我喜歡英語，語文和數學，你喜歡什麼呢？
2、how about表示怎麼樣或怎樣做某件事。含義後面偏重於怎麼做的方式
例句：
I go to school by bus,how about you?
我乘坐公共汽車去上學，你怎麼去呢？
二、在以下場合基本相同：What about … 和 how about … 是英語口語中常用的兩個省略句型，它們的意思和用法基本相同，常常用在以下場合。
1、向對方提出建議或請求。
例如：
How about some eggs?來些雞蛋怎麼樣？
How about going out for a walk?
出去散散步好嗎？
What about playing soccer?
去踢足球怎麼樣？
What about another cake?
再吃塊蛋糕好嗎？
How about a cup of coffee?

2、徵詢對方的看法或意見。

以上兩個例子中what about和 how about是不能互換的。
about後接名詞（短語）、代詞或動名詞作賓語。
