Many local women have fallen into shocking criminal traps, living in other places with unpredictable fates. Lao Hu and Ji Hong fled across the border. The pilot poster focuses on the plight of the little people on the border and the power of mutual redemption.

The movie "Nujiang" is the second feature film written and directed by Liu Juan. As a female creator, Liu Juan completed doctoral research on women's art at Columbia University in New York from 2018 to 2020. Her thoughts on the plight and future of women's fate are also rooted in movies. Liu Juan once worked as a volunteer teacher in the Nujiang River Basin in Yunnan and came into contact with hundreds of left-behind families. She found that "facing violence and dealing with violence problems" is an unavoidable experience for women in these families when they grow up, and adolescent girls have different attitudes toward violence. Attitude greatly affects her life. Therefore, Liu Juan wrote the script of "Nujiang" based on this experience and knowledge, integrating the author's thinking on the basis of reality, and fully mobilizing the spatial environment of the Nujiang basin such as mountains, forests, and raging waves, making it a language that participates in the narrative and draws attention. The audience focuses on the interaction between the characters' external environment and the inner world, witnessing their eventual awakening in the crisis-ridden nature.
