At the regular press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held that day, Zhu Fenglian said that compared with foreign friends, it is more convenient for Taiwanese compatriots to travel to the mainland. With a 5-year valid Taiwan Compatriot Permit, they can come over at any time without a visa. Taiwan’s mobile phone number and bank card are bound to applications such as Alipay or WeChat, so you can eat, live, travel and play in the mainland without any hindrance.
Zhu Fenglian said that if you take a walk around the mainland, you will find that the mainland is real, three-dimensional and lovely, and that the compatriots in the mainland are kind, warm and hospitable. As long as you come here once, you will definitely feel unsatisfied and want to come again, again and again.
It is summer vacation, and the enthusiasm for cross-strait youth exchanges continues to rise. The majority of Taiwanese youths are actively participating in various cross-strait exchange activities. Zhu Fenglian introduced the recent events such as the 7th Cross-Strait Youth Development Forum, the 2024 Cross-Strait Youth Summit, and the All-China Taiwan Federation’s 21st Taiwan Compatriot Youth Summer Camp.
Zhu Fenglian pointed out that young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have a heart-to-heart relationship during exchanges, increase trust in exchanges, and jointly inject youthful vitality and strong impetus into promoting the peaceful development and integrated development of cross-Strait relations. We welcome more Taiwanese youth to participate in cross-strait exchanges, cooperation and integrated development in various ways, and to work hand in hand with mainland youth to share development opportunities and create long-lasting well-being.
She emphasized that Taiwanese people have a strong interest in traveling to the mainland for exchanges, and the industry on the island has been calling on the Democratic Progressive Party authorities to lift the ban on Taiwanese travel agencies organizing groups to travel to the mainland as soon as possible. We hope that the DPP authorities will comply with public opinion, stop brutally intimidating Taiwanese people from traveling to the mainland for tourism and exchange, and stop harming the interests of Taiwanese people and related businesses.
The 2024 Cross-Strait Taipei Summer Travel Exhibition was held recently. More than a hundred representatives from the tourism industry from 12 provinces in the mainland participated in the exhibition, attracting the attention of many Taiwanese people. Zhu Fenglian said that Taiwanese people watched performances, participated in interactions, tasted delicious food in the mainland exhibition area, and had an in-depth understanding of the new development of mainland tourism. Many people, especially the "Shou Lai" people, expressed their hope to have the opportunity to travel to the mainland as soon as possible.
Zhu Fenglian also introduced the progress of cooperation between primary and secondary schools in Fujian and Taiwan in carrying out youth special sports projects such as baseball and softball. She said that from August 4 to 11, relevant organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will jointly host the 2024 Dongsen Cup Cross-Strait (Liancheng) Youth Baseball Invitational Tournament and the 2024 Dongsen Cup Cross-Strait (Liancheng) Youth Baseball Invitational Tournament with the theme of "Youth Stick·Building Dreams for the Future" in Liancheng County, Fujian Province. The fifth Cross-Strait (Liancheng) Youth Baseball Cultural Festival will invite 8 youth baseball teams from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to participate in competitions and other exchange activities.
