"Mei Art Today - An Exhibition to Commemorate the 130th Anniversary of Mei Lanfang's Birth" opened today at the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. The exhibits include manuscripts, calligraphy and paintings, ancient books, costumes, records, etc., of which nearly 120 items are unveiled to the public for the first time.
As a world-renowned master of Peking Opera and a peak in the history of Chinese opera and culture in the 20th century, Mei Lanfang used his rich artistic practice to promote the formation and development of a new pattern of Peking Opera art in the 20th century. He created the Peking Opera Mei Pai art is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and has had an important influence on many types of Chinese opera. He is committed to the combination of Peking Opera art practice and opera art organization and research, providing a research paradigm of methodological significance for the construction of contemporary Chinese opera art system and theoretical system. He is an outstanding example of both virtue and art. He helps those in need and is unyielding, demonstrating firm national integrity in times of national crisis. He is also an important practitioner in spreading the excellent traditional Chinese culture to the world, promoting the art of Peking Opera and Chinese opera to the world theater scene, allowing the world to truly understand, recognize and accept Chinese opera through equal dialogue. "Mei Art Today - An Exhibition to Commemorate the 130th Anniversary of Mei Lanfang's Birth" will last until October 23.
