"Mist Theater" new drama series " Misplaced " has recently reached its on-demand finale. The drama tells the story of the detective Jiang Guangming ( Ma Yili ) who accidentally discovered the writer Gu Jiming ( Tong Dawei) while investigating a case. The crime scene described in the novel (played by ) coincides with the crime scene under investigation. Fiction and reality are intertwined. The emergence of the novel provides a new direction for the police's investigation, but it also leads to a deeper mystery. A few days ago, the play's screenwriters Guo Shuai and Liu Mengsha said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from the Beijing News that for "Dislocation", suspense is just a shell, and people's choices in difficult situations are the focus of the whole play. "This 'dilemma' not only comes from the outside, but also from each character themselves, from their desires, morality and past. So while everyone is participating in the case, they are also solving the mystery of their lives."
Ma Yili plays detective Jiang bright.
Character: I want to be a villain in the "non-traditional" sense
Beijing News: The drama has created a very complex male protagonist Gu Jiming. He is both sympathetic and cruel and cold-blooded. On the one hand, during the creative process, what were your thoughts on Gu Jiming?
Guo Shuai and Liu Mengsha: First of all, we want to be a villain in the "non-traditional" sense. We hope that he is not a labeled demon, but a flesh-and-blood, good and evil character. We hope that the audience can see a living people. He embodies the struggles of ordinary people in this era. He works hard and is talented, but never gets a chance. He is anxious and hesitant, but can never find a way to rise. He has no way to ask for help, is bullied, and is finally forced to break out. The cruel and cold-blooded side. At the same time, he must be an ordinary person. An ordinary person hides a secret that cannot be told to anyone, and has achieved worldly success. He must be suffering every second. He is complicated, contradictory, and pitiful at the same time. Yes, sadly.
Beijing News: In addition to laying out clues to solve the case, the play also reflects Gu Jiming's struggle before becoming a famous novelist. Is his "evil" nature, or was it inspired by a certain situation?
Guo Shuai and Liu Mengsha: We believe that "human nature is inherently good" and all evil is the result of alienation in the process of human growth. For Gu Jiming, his nature is kind, otherwise he would not hesitate and struggle, but he was too eager to succeed, so when faced with the temptation of success, he embarked on a wrong path. The first novel he wrote in the play is called "Winter Solstice". In fact, we wanted to metaphorize that winter is coming and spring is not far away, but he did not wait for his spring.
The writer Gu Jiming, played by Tong Dawei, presents complex human nature.
Beijing News: The heroine in the drama, the policeman Jiang Guangming, is serious and dedicated in his career, but his family life is not satisfactory. In the play, she has to face her husband's betrayal. Does she want the police to have some other dimensions to the character besides solving the case? In addition, the victims Jiang Na and Jiang Guangming both suffered cheating and betrayal from their lovers. Is this plot setting considered a "contrast"?
Guo Shuai, Liu Mengsha: First of all, when we create the three female characters, we want to do some control groups to discuss the topic of "how to find ourselves." The proposition Jiang Guangming faces is not that her husband cheated on her, but whether she should forgive her cheating husband after she becomes pregnant, or should she wrong herself for the sake of the child? In addition, the problem that women like Jiang Guangming face in this society is to show her gentle and soft side as a female police officer. She has experienced some difficulties, so she will understand other women better, which is why she is so insistent on finding Jiang Na. She will also understand Su Zhenzhen's struggle and pain better, and choose to "help her". While Jiang Guangming was investigating the case, she was also looking for answers to her marriage and life. In the end, she saw the answer to this question through the tragedies of Jiang Na and Su Zhenzhen's lives and made her own choice.
Several female characters in "Dislocation" contrast each other and discuss how to find themselves.
Actor: Tong Dawei's temperament can just give the character layers
Beijing News: Tong Dawei's performance this time is impressive. He has always appeared as a friendly big brother next door. In your opinion, Gu Jiming What is it about the characters that makes Tong Dawei so attractive?
Guo Shuai, Liu Mengsha: We joked before that there is a kind of actor who the audience knows is a bad person as soon as he appears on the stage, but an actor like Mr. Tong Dawei will make the audience think that no matter how bad he can be, he can be bad. In fact, Gu Jiming is not a villain in the traditional sense, and the temperament of teacher Tong Dawei can give this character many layers, which will make the audience have more contradictory emotions, criticizing him, hating him, but also understanding and sympathizing with him.
Beijing News: Ma Yili has rarely played police roles before. What qualities does she have that fit your image of Jiang Guangming?
Guo Shuai, Liu Mengsha: The first thing that must be affirmed is Teacher Ma’s acting skills. Whatever role she plays is the role. Secondly, Teacher Ma has a "stubbornness" about her, which gives people the feeling that "if you leave the case to her, it will definitely succeed."
The screenwriter believes that Ma Yili has a sense of stubbornness.
Theme: The more fictional the story, the more real the details are.
Beijing News: What was the biggest challenge in the entire creation process of "Dislocation"?
Guo Shuai and Liu Mengsha: The biggest challenge of lies in its two-line narrative. When we first created the script, we divided the story into four parts based on time and place, namely 2018 and 2019, Fang Hai and Qin Jiang. Then, while ensuring rigorous logic, we disrupted and reconstructed the narrative, so we were worried that the audience would There will be a viewing threshold.
Beijing News: In the creation of suspense themes, the audience’s psychological expectations are firstly to see the logically rigorous, brain-burning, and reversal of the crime-solving story, and secondly to see the society, human nature and even the imprint of the times. From a screenwriter's perspective, how to choose and integrate these two aspects of creation?
Guo Shuai, Liu Mengsha: The more fictional the story, the more real the details must be, especially in suspense dramas. Social background and era marks are easy to create a sense of reality, and human nature is easier to create for the audience to feel involved. Therefore, all rigorous logic, brain-burning, and reversal must be based on the reality of details. The two are not the same. Do not conflict.
Beijing News: In recent years, suspense-themed works of various styles have emerged one after another. In your opinion, what elements do an excellent suspense-themed work need to have?
Guo Shuai and Liu Mengsha: We believe that a very important point in excellent suspense works is authenticity. The story must be real and the characters real. The suspense comes from the fate and motivation of the characters and social thinking. It must not be "for the sake of reversal." "Reversal" and "Mysterious". The so-called suspense is just a storytelling technique, and the most important thing is to explore complex human nature and trigger thinking.
