To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold the "Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra 2024 Tour" from July 20 to 27, 2024, holding two concerts at the Hungarian National Opera House and the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts , using music to pay tribute to the friendship between the two countries.

As a warm-up for the tour, the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold the "2023/2024 Music Season Closing Concert" at the Xinghai Concert Hall on July 19. The orchestra will be led by Jing Huan, music director of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra. A performance that combines Chinese and Western elements, ancient and modern.

In this concert, under the baton of music director Jing Huan, Guangzhou Youth Federation will join hands with pipa player Zhang Qiang and cellist Qin Liwei to jointly perform a work that combines ancient Chinese romanticism and contemporary Chinese spiritual features—— Double Concerto for Cello and Pipa "Xiaoyaoyou". The original intention of creating "Xiaoyaoyou" is to use musical language to express traditional Chinese culture. The cello leads the entire orchestra to describe this work with a strong Chinese cultural flavor. The high and sharp pipa and the low and vastness of the cello are intertwined, relying on the Western music style. The rhythm and the tones of the ancient rhymes of the Tang and Song Dynasties lay out a picture of the dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations.

Zhang Qiang performed with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in the Vienna Golden Hall in 2001. He is full of expectations for cooperating with the youthful Guangzhou Youth Exchange on this tour: "I hope that the cooperative performance with the Guangzhou Youth Exchange will gain widespread attention from domestic and foreign audiences."

Qin Liwei served as the director of the Guangzhou Youth Exchange's first international tour in 2015 Cello solo, together with sheng player Jia Lei, performed Zhao Lin's work "Du, Concerto for Cello, Sheng and Orchestra". In 2017, Qin Liwei and Guangzhou Qingjiao performed Tan Dun's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" at the "Guangzhou Fortune Global Forum Opening Artistic Performance", which was highly praised by Chinese and foreign guests.

Qin Liwei said: "I am very moved by the sincerity and love of music of the children of the Guangzhou Youth Orchestra. In terms of performance quality requirements, the Guangzhou Youth Orchestra is a model for domestic youth orchestras. I am very much looking forward to cooperating with the Guangzhou Youth Orchestra again!"

In addition to "Escape", the Guangzhou-Qingdao Jiaotong Festival will also perform Chinese composer Chen Qigang's "Peking Opera Moments", Stravinsky's "Firebird" Suite and Hungarian composer Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody", all of which are Professional repertoire performed by professional orchestras from around the world.
