Four years ago, the "Return to the Old Summer Palace" light and shadow screening used advanced technologies such as 5g+8k high-definition imaging and AI+AR to vividly present the glorious history and magnificent scenery of the Old Summer Palace to the audience through digital means. This summer, the exhibition returns to the Shougang Park re Rui International Memory Hall to "reproduce" the former grand scene of the Old Summer Palace for citizens and tourists. It is reported that the exhibition will last until November this year.

In order to solve the problem that the Old Summer Palace ruins cannot be reconstructed and the architectural ruins are "incomprehensible", the production team of "Return to the Old Summer Palace" based on the results of nearly 20 years of restoration research and spent many years developing and launching the "Return to the Old Summer Palace" series of digital products. Four years ago, the "Return to the Old Summer Palace" light and shadow screening was launched and was warmly welcomed by everyone. In order to respond to the audience's eager expectation to witness the "digital rebirth" of the Old Summer Palace again, the "Return to the Old Summer Palace" light and shadow screening will return to the Re Rui International Memory Center on June 21, and the exhibition will last until November this year. This re-screening not only retains the original exciting content, but also incorporates more creative activities and technological innovations to bring a better and more immersive viewing experience to the audience.

Curator Yang Si introduced that the production team used advanced technologies such as digital surveying and mapping, three-dimensional modeling, and virtual reality to "reproduce" the Old Summer Palace from multiple perspectives such as garden architecture, plant configuration, and scattered cultural relics. At the same time, through the study of ancient paintings and ancient books, etc. A variety of methods are used to understand the true historical appearance of the Old Summer Palace, and the research results are presented on the big screen, allowing the audience to immerse themselves into the Old Summer Palace.

In the three-story cultural space, the exhibition displays in-depth the research results of the digital restoration of the Old Summer Palace, including the detailed restoration of the Haiyantang water conservancy system. This result is the result of a special research team composed of Chinese and foreign experts who crossed the Chinese and European ancient book libraries to explore the missionaries' letters and the list of architectural water conservancy books, and finally revealed the mystery of the water conservancy system in the Western-style building. In the knowledge expansion area of the exhibition, viewers can also learn about the past of the Old Summer Palace by scanning the QR code, such as "Where did the emperor study?"

In the future, Re Rui International Museum of Memory will also design and launch a variety of study courses based on the light and shadow screening of "Return to the Old Summer Palace", including glass color restoration, garden design, patriotism education with twelve animal heads, etc. These courses will further deepen the audience's understanding of the history and culture of the Old Summer Palace and inspire the patriotism of the younger generation. Curator Yang Si said: "Our goal is not only to reproduce history, but also to inspire people's awareness of the protection of cultural heritage and their infinite longing for the future through the reproduction of history."
