On the evening of June 18, the TV series " Jin Yong's Martial Arts World " was updated to episode 6. In my review article for the first four episodes of the show, I pointed out the lack of "heroic" temperament in the show and thought it was a very low-quality work. Unexpectedly, the drama review article received nearly a thousand comments.
Judging from the content of the comments, readers obviously agree with my statement and think that the quality of "Jin Yong's Martial Arts World" is very low. It stands to reason that a TV series with a strong star cast and a remake of a classic should not be of low quality. Why do this TV series have such strange negative reviews? After 6 episodes, I think the reason why it has so many bad reviews is because the characters are lackluster.
Many drama fans always like to mention the Huang Rihua version of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes". In fact, when this version aired, many of the viewers were teenagers. How much aesthetic ability can a child have? But why do even children know that Huang Rihua’s version is good? I think this is something that should be carefully analyzed.
Children, can you see the great hero coming? Of course you can, but probably not many. When children watch "The Condor", they mainly look at the character's temperament. In Huang Rihua's version, each character has a clear temperament and can make the audience shine. We can also hastily believe that in the old version of "The Condor Shooting", the characters all have very three-dimensional facial makeup. As soon as the character appears, his temperament is very clear.
For example, when Guo Jing came out, he was really a simple and honest boy. When Huang Rong came out, she was very weird. The Northern Beggar Hong Qigong was an interesting beggar when he came out. When Dongxie, the old father-in-law, appears, he has an evil nature. Western poison is really very vicious, not a thing. When Mei Chaofeng came out, he looked cold, terrifying, and like a mummy. This Mei Chaofeng is simply a teenage nightmare for many drama fans.
These facial-shape character creation methods (performance methods and director presentation methods) are typical characteristics of Hong Kong dramas. Hong Kong dramas and films both take a very clear commercial route. Among martial arts works, they especially take a commercial route and like to be short and fast. When Jin Yong created "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", it was a character with facial makeup and a short, flat and fast fighting style. Therefore, when we later filmed this TV series, we also adopted a facial makeup-based work method, which turned out to be very successful.
Looking back at this time's "Jin Yong's Martial Arts World", the most intuitive failure is the failure to make facial makeup characters. Under normal circumstances, if we say which TV series is facial makeup, then the quality of this TV series seems to be low. However, this method of literary criticism is not suitable for Jin Yong's martial arts, which are facial makeup at the source of creation. Going back to "Jin Yong's Martial Arts World", the reason why it doesn't look good is probably because it didn't even do such a simple thing as facial makeup.
Many viewers complained about the two characters Guo Jing and Huang Rong. I know that these two young actors have worked hard enough. However, they were powerless and had no choice. It is impossible for young people to have the acting skills of their predecessors. After all, a large number of Hong Kong drama actors have been working hard since childhood, and they have long known how to shape their characters. On the contrary, today's young actors have a professional background and are not used to the facial expression method of shaping characters.
After 6 episodes of this TV series, the biggest failure is the creation of the character Hong Qigong. In the old version, Hong Qigong is a simple and interesting old man, with a kind face and kind eyes, but also fortitude. Especially this kind-hearted look, you will know at a glance that this is the old beggar. On the other hand, in our current new version, if the characters are not given names, the audience will not be able to identify them at a glance. Facial makeup is a very important commercial drama technique. This drama can't even adapt to this technique.
Even the character Ke Zhen E. In the old version, it really gives people the feeling of an old blind man. This kind of facial makeup character had the temperament of his own music back then. On the other hand, the current version is weak and weak, as if it has not had enough to eat.Even if it is a face-painting assignment, the character must be fully energetic. This group of actors has no energy.
Meng Ziyi ’s Mei Chaofeng is of course a beauty. However, there is only beauty left in this character. Mei Chaofeng's mental state was completely gone. In the old version, whenever Mei Chaofeng, an old mummy, appears on the scene, the background music is terrifying, which makes the children's hair stand on end. This is interesting. But in this version, as soon as Mei Chaofeng appears, the young people can't wait for Mei Chaofeng to have a relationship with the male protagonist. In this way, the TV series failed.
