"The Waves That Eternally Die" tells the story of the heroic group portraits of the Chinese Communist Party fighting on the hidden front in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s. In the film, the protagonist Li Xia and others sacrificed their lives to welcome the liberation of Shanghai. In the 1950s, the black-and-white film "The Eternal Wave" starring the famous performing artist Sun Daolin became a household name. From 2018 to 2019, the Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe adapted and created a dance drama of the same name based on this, achieving the "second creation". This time, the dance drama film of the same name, with Zheng Dasheng as the chief director, recreates the original pure dance drama performance in a more contemporary art film narrative style, integrating dance drama performance scenes, film studio shooting scenes, and real-life urban landscapes. Wait for clever connections.
Zheng Dasheng said that allowing the dance drama to be "reborn" on the screen is intended to pay tribute to the heroes, to the glorious city of Shanghai, and to the art of film. The film's leading actors Wang Jiajun and Zhu Jiejing performed dance sequences from the film before the premiere, winning rounds of applause and cheers from Chinese and foreign filmmakers.
