It was the eve of the Olympic Games. The residents of the small town gradually changed their original lives because of this upcoming event.

Erlang is a taciturn person. Most of the time, his response to people is to nod or shake his head. As a reform-through-labor prisoner, he was always targeted by his enemies in the small town, and his father had few conversations with him.

In addition to this, his only other relative, his sister, always called him to send her intimate care with ulterior motives after he was released from prison.

Helpless, the thin dog was so strong that he fought with Erlang from building to building, and finally bit Erlang directly on his butt and thigh.

Because wild dogs breed rampantly, which seriously affects the lives of small town residents, people arrange patrol teams to "eliminate dog harm."

Erlang, who had just been released from prison, was also arranged to join the team by his fellow police officers. The "wanted dog" Xi Quan was also on the list to be eliminated.

So Erlang went from going out alone to working with a team to arrest the thin dog. Unexpectedly, during the process of arresting and completing the transportation, Erlang was bitten twice by the thin dog.

So he was arranged by his teammates to stay in the same room with the dog and use the ten-day identification method to determine whether the dog had rabies.

During these ten days of getting along, Erlang's mood changed, and he gradually gained the strength to go on the road again from Xigou.

The main plot of this film is a bit fragmented and cliched. It almost uses an extreme depression to portray the image of Erlang. Erlang is not a character with full explanation.

And the black thin dog, this special partner, seems to be playing out a special mythical story with Erlang: Erlang on the edge, the spiritual thin dog, the sudden solar eclipse in the desert, and the indescribable new transformation.

The appearance of the thin dog can be said to be the story of Guan Hu, the newly created Erlang God and the roaring dog in this story.

The several depictions of animal spirituality in the film seem to repeatedly help Erlang get rid of the source of his pain.

The essential similarity between Xigou and Erlang stems from a sense of powerlessness in the transition from "old order" to "new order".

This makes this film extend a feeling similar to "Life of Pi" under the premise of a strong section chief flavor.

Different from the awakening of Pai's powerful internal drive, Erlang's awakening almost completely relies on the redemption of Xigou. The main theme of Erlang's story is not resistance, but obedience.

Having been away from the secular life for many years, he knows very little about the new world.

Only violent confrontation with others can awaken his sense of resistance, but this kind of resistance is meaningless to him.

Ten years ago, Erlang had a rift with the Hu family due to manslaughter. After being released from prison, he has been facing retaliation, ranging from fights to fatal injuries. It was Xigou who saved Erlang time and time again on the verge of danger.

Erlang also ignored the past suspicions. When poisonous snakes were infested and Butcher Hu's life was in danger, he mustered up the courage to help Butcher Hu inject serum to relieve his pain.

In a sense, he is the same as the thin dog, a wild dog with a soft corner in his heart but a homeless one, an abandoned and marginalized character.

The arrival of the new world means that they will be removed from the list. This is also the reason why Erlang can create trust and resonance with Xigou.

Their fate seems to be the epitome of the fate of the town: Erlang's father cannot afford to feed the animals in the zoo, so he feeds them with the cheapest food; It could not take root on the land; the characters of the amusement park decayed and fell one after another, and it became a lost paradise.

As mentioned earlier, the narrative logic of this film is confusing. It is actually something worth pondering that it won the Grand Prize in the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes.

When watching the film, I strongly thought that "Dogs" has a very obvious sense of flattery, due to the special processing of digital transfer to film, the visual language of montage, and the nihilistic literary tone.

From a visual perspective, the images of this movie are exquisite and beautiful. To the audience, in this directorial film in the absolute sense, Guan Hu writes the word "sanctimonious" in an extremely personal way.

This movie has a strong content expression from point to line. It enjoys itself in the comfort zone, pleases the judges, and hurts the audience.

Compared with "八百" and "Lao Pao'er", Guan Hu restrained what he wanted to express to a great extent in "Dog Formation", using metaphors and hints one after another, little by little. Lost in a less successful literary narrative.

Although "Dog Formation" has a strong influence of Jia Zhangke, the casting and shaping did not express the sad fate of the small town on the northwest edge that the film wanted to convey.

Peng Yuyan's "aphasia", I would even think that from the beginning of the character creation, he deliberately avoided the violation of dialect, not to mention the forced insertion of the expression of love in the role of Putao played by Tong Liya.

But it is undeniable that I have mixed emotions of love and hate for this movie, which is why I want to share it today. In China’s film industry system, we must need this kind of extreme Express to try to speak out. The work of

assembly line can resonate, but it may not be thought-provoking.

"Dog Formation" I couldn't understand, but I began to doubt myself. It was as if all the internal friction of this movie was focused on me.

At the end of the movie, the ferocious tiger breaks out of the cage and takes to the streets for a leisurely stroll. The funny monkey is no longer a toy to please humans, occupying the window frame and jumping up and down.
