documentary "Front Waves" focuses on the elderly. Through long-term tracking shooting, it records the love and pain they have encountered, showing the real life picture of the elderly, which is also an aspect of the city of Shanghai. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed: "Implementing a national strategy to actively respond to the aging of the population." Shanghai, as a city with the largest concentration of elderly people and a deep aging rate in my country, is actively exploring ways to deal with the aging of society. The documentary "Front Waves" hopes to use vivid character stories to change the public's stereotypes of the elderly and gain insight into the lives and inner world of the elderly.

A film crew of 30 people began research and shooting in November 2022. It took a year to capture the stories of nearly twenty contemporary elderly people. Currently, 7 episodes of content have been formed, each episode is 50 minutes.

In the first episode of "The God of Eternal Love" aired today, it took a year to film an elderly blind date at an IKEA store in Shanghai. At any time, love is what we need until death. Love is not just for young people, it is an eternal proposition.

"The Lover" tells the story of how an old man lost his lover to Alzheimer's disease step by step. An accident occurred and the old man died of systemic infection. The old couple parted in life and death, separated by yin and yang. How to break up the heavy love between husband and wife of fifty years? The bond between life and death is broad, what is love?

"Tomorrow Will Be Better" continues to follow a 96-year-old man's driving test journey. He is breaking the stereotype of the elderly with a controversial choice so that he can still take his wife on a trip by car. He accepted the beatings of life again and again, and once again mustered up the courage to start again. Perhaps the old man had anticipated the outcome. Learning to drive is just his belief in fighting against the years, making his old life no longer ordinary and full of passion.

"Guardian" tells the story of an old man looking for his guardian. 90-year-old Mr. Gong lives alone. One day, he accidentally fell on the roadside. Sister Liu, 55, saw him passing by and kindly took him to the hospital. It is precisely because of this accident that Uncle Gong hopes that Sister Liu will be his guardian. However, a series of practical difficulties faced the two people.

"Mother's Writing Project" warmly records the reconstruction of intergenerational communication between a mother and her son through writing. Grandma Xiuying was born in the Hetao Plain of Inner Mongolia. She never left the countryside when she was young. She loves nature and flowers. Her son Lu Yonglin and his daughter-in-law Rui Dongli opened a "Family Writing Workshop" at home to guide her to re-literate and use paintbrushes to write down the stories she saw and the unforgettable stories in her mind, allowing her mother to rediscover herself.

"Bathing" tells the story of five old people taking a bath. According to our long-term research, we found that the core real problem for the elderly is the care of the disabled and dementia elderly, and bathing is the most arduous and secret part of it. The stories of old people taking a bath tell the story of the pain of life and prove the dignity of life.

"Sail with the Current" tells the story of an old man, Wang Minhua, who is addicted to online shopping, and presents the relationship between an old man, his mobile phone and surveillance. In the end, the old man lost his cell phone, and the focus of her life was gone. We have recorded one year. This is Wang Minhua’s story. It is mixed with pathos and humor and is also a typical life picture of contemporary elderly people.

Old age is the future for each of us. How to understand old age and how to treat the elderly marks the conscience of a civilized society. Please follow the lens of "Front Wave" to touch the thickness and temperature of life. Let us understand aging and pay tribute to the love and freedom that have not faded with time.
