On the afternoon of April 22, the Beijing International Film Festival· was co-sponsored by the Organizing Committee of the 31st College Student Film Festival, Beijing Dongcheng District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Beijing Dongcheng District People's Government, and Alxa See Environmental Protection Charity Organization. The 31st College Student Film Festival’s “Environmental Imagery: From Documentation to Inspiration” forum was grandly held at the Longfu Cultural and Art Center in Beijing.
Chen Gang, deputy dean of the School of Art and Media of Beijing Normal University, Zhang Li, vice president of the Alxa See Ecological Association, Li Jia, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Dongcheng District Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Suping and Yang Xu, directors of the Alxa See Ecological Association and other guests Attend forums. Eight experts from the fields of film and television and environmental protection conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on two major environmental image issues, interacted with the audience, and discussed how to use images to tell environmental stories from different angles.
Launched the "Rediscovery Project" to reproduce rich environmental stories and the true meaning of life
Chen Gang, deputy dean of the School of Art and Media of Beijing Normal University and chairman of the "Youth Honor Selection Group" of the 31st College Student Film Festival, delivered a speech at the forum. He said that the diversified integration of film and television is very important to promote the development of new productivity in film and television, especially cross-border exchanges on diverse issues such as environmental protection, which can enhance the influence of image content and help inspire young students to pay attention to natural ecology and enhance environmental awareness.
Zhang Li, Vice President of the Alxa See Ecological Association, introduced in his speech the achievements of the Alxa See Ecological Association in the past 20 years since its establishment, emphasized the important role of images in spreading environmental protection concepts and recording environmental changes, and expressed the idea of gathering more information through images. The desire of multiple partners to participate in environmental protection public welfare activities, such as using images to record the beauty of endangered species, telling the stories behind environmental protection, and paying attention to new challenges in ecological environmental protection public welfare.
Wang Suping, director of the Alxa See Ecological Association, introduced the special environmental image unit of the University Student Film Festival's "Rediscovery Plan", calling on young people to convey their care for environmental protection and sustainable development through the lens of young people, and to use vivid image language to tell the story of environmental protection. The story explores the true meaning of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
At the launching ceremony of the "Rediscovery Plan", Chen Gang, deputy dean of the School of Art and Media, Zhang Li, vice president of the Alxa See Ecological Association, Li Jia, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Dongcheng District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and director of the Alxa See Ecological Association Wang Suping and Wan Ziyu, the initiator of the Rediscovery Project, took the stage together and jointly launched the "Rediscovery Project" environmental image collection activity. In the "Green Lens: Using Images to Speak for Environmental Protection" roundtable forum, Guo Yonghao, producer of the documentary " Snow Leopard and Her Friends ", and the film " Snow Leopard" Producer Nan Ji, Dr. Lu Zhiyao, Director of Climate Change and Business Sustainability of the SEE Foundation, and documentary director Shi Zheyu, discussed in depth how environmentally friendly video works capture and present environmental issues.
Guo Yonghao discusses the importance of natural image creation. He believes that the creation of natural images requires the creator to have scientific knowledge, artistic sensitivity and deep insight. In the future, he plans to promote local training, cooperate with art schools, and strive to transform natural images into actual cultural and creative products, so as to promote the development of industry, moral education, and aesthetic education.
Nan Ji talked about her opportunity to invest in the movie "Snow Leopard" and emphasized that a sincere and positive story is the surefire way to impress the producer. Nanji also shared a short story about the interaction between man and nature that took place in Sanjiangyuan, the shooting location of "Snow Leopard". She believes that man and nature have always been symbiotic. We care for nature, and nature also heals us.
Dr. Lu Zhiyao shared her experience during the Antarctic expedition. She said that the world is connected, and everyone’s actions and behaviors will affect our environment, and good video works and good communication can make everyone feel nature. So take action to change.
Shi Zheyu said that the origin of the development of world documentaries is ecological and natural documentaries. As early as the 1980s, most of the documentary types that attracted world attention in China were ecological and natural themes. Therefore, using images to tell environmentally friendly stories is a global issue. He encouraged young people to start from the themes around them, patiently approach and record the natural ecology, use modern media technology to create, and create a youthful look.
Gather the energy of action and realize the true meaning through exploration and practice
In the roundtable forum "Ecological Glimmer: Gathering the Power of Action", Qian Haiying, International Ocean Film Curator of Banff Mountain Film Festival, and Liu, founder of Baopu Regeneration Enterprise Xuesong, Chen Chen, director of marine documentaries and director of Shenzhen Oasis Environmental Protection Public Welfare Promotion Center, and Yang Xu, director of Alxa See, discussed together. The four guests expressed their love for environmental protection based on their own work and careers, and shared many short stories with the value of video recording in their lives with the audience.
Qian Haiying shared her experience in promoting outdoor activities and nature documentaries in China. She cited short films such as "The Song of the Whale" as examples, showing stories of scientists protecting whales and young people respecting nature, as well as public welfare stories of chasing illegal fishing, illustrating the power of real stories to inspire audiences to take action for environmental protection.
Xuesong Liu talks about her approach to combining art with environmental protection, showcasing artworks made from recycled materials. She encourages young people to participate in environmental protection and create products with social value, and believes that the combination of art and environmental protection can promote the concepts of sustainable lifestyle and harmonious coexistence.
Chen Chen talked about her experience as a documentary director and the experience of filming "Searching for the Coral Sea", which inspired her to combine marine protection with public interest. She is also very grateful to Alxa See for her strong support in her first work. She is currently planning to explore the ancient ocean world and launch a conservation plan based on the Forbidden City's "Hai Cuo Map". This project has been shortlisted for the French Sunshine International Documentary Festival.
Yang Xu talked about the emotions between environmental protection enthusiasts and the case of the Alxa see environmental protection project, including activities to support ecological protection projects in various places and enhance public ecological awareness. He encouraged students to actively participate in these activities as volunteers and explore sustainable lifestyles starting from the ecological activities around them.
