As the first large-scale theater with more than 1,000 seats in the ancient city, the Canal Theater will use the theme of "Drama and Fun" to create a new performing arts landmark with both fashionable and literary atmosphere, injecting more vitality and vitality into the ancient city of Jiangnan. Canal Theater was originally the "Suzhou Performing Arts Center", with a total construction area of approximately 42,000 square meters. It is the largest comprehensive service center in the center of Suzhou that integrates performances, exhibitions, and training. The Canal Theater project started to be renovated in July last year, and it took more than 8 months to finally debut. The overall space design of the theater after
's renovation is modern, grand, and inclusive, meeting the needs of different types of performances. The walls and ceiling continue the curved elements, forming an echoing relationship with the hall. The concave and convex shapes on the walls and top can meet the requirements of acoustic diffusion, making the sound quality of the theater space fuller, and helping actors show their profound artistic skills in natural sound performances. The theater has a 300-square-meter rehearsal hall on the first floor, two art spaces on the second floor, and two training classrooms on the third floor. The foyer of the
Canal Theater is inspired by the trajectory of stars. The curve extends from the side panels to the stairs on both sides, reflecting the elegant and stretched water sleeve effect. It is simple and full of tension, and interacts with the gradient starry sky ceiling on the top surface. The large screen in the middle is flanked by Su embroidery screens, showing the charm of Su-style culture.
At the opening ceremony, Lu Jinhua, a national first-class actor and the successor of the Shanghai Pingtan Troupe's Li Tiao, performed "Up the Spring Mountain", and there was also a performance of excerpts from Happy Twist's original musical "Walking Alone on the Moon". It is reported that the Canal Theater has innovatively opened four major sections: Happy Twist, National Style and Trends, Parent-Child Play, and Sound of Music. Among them, "Happy Mahua" will be performed on the weekend of the first week of each month, "Guo Feng Guo Chao" will be performed on the weekend of the 24th solar term week, "Parents and Children" will be performed on the weekend of the last week of each month, and "Sound of Music" will be performed on the weekend of the 24th solar term. At present, the opening season of Canal Theater's "Happiness More than Just a Little Time" is in full swing and ticket sales are in full swing. From April to June, 7 classic dramas such as "The Count of Wulongshan", "The Blind Painting Artist" and "Spring Breeze Can't Be" will be performed in turn, and the Philharmonic Light Music Group will bring animation classics by Joe Hisaishi and Hayao Miyazaki. On the same day, in the north square of the Canal Theater, the "Mahua Camp" jointly built by "Happy Mahua" and its partner "Wanyouyingli" opened, providing citizens with relaxed and enjoyable leisure activities and social space. Canal Theater is located in the Shilu business district of Suzhou, which was once known as "the most wealthy and romantic place in the world of mortals".
