On March 7, the Asian Film Awards announced on its official website: Director Zhang Yimou was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 17th Asian Film Awards.
The Asian Film Awards "Lifetime Achievement Award" aims to commend filmmakers who have dedicated their lives to movies and made outstanding contributions to Asian movies. In addition to receiving this award, "Man Jiang Hong" directed by Zhang Yimou also won the "Highest Grossing Asian Film in 2023" award at this year's Asian Film Awards. This is Zhang Yimou's second Asian Film Award after winning the "Asian Film Outstanding Contribution Award" in 2010 and the "Best Director" award for "One Second" in 2021.
Regarding receiving the "Lifetime Achievement Award", 73-year-old Zhang Yimou said: "I am very lucky to have chosen movies as my career throughout my life. I have been in movies for more than 40 years. Thank you to my friends who like my movies, thank you for your lasting support and Encouraged, I will continue to study and work hard. I always have some expectations for the future and look forward to whether the next movie can be made better."
It is reported that this awards ceremony will be held at the Hong Kong Opera Center on March 10 and will be held at Simultaneous live broadcast on multiple platforms. Zhang Yimou will attend this award ceremony and accept the above two honors in person.
