Recently, nearly 30 members of the Jiangsu Road Street Fenghua Choir gathered together to sing "Song of Gonghe" with full enthusiasm and passionate singing. It is reported that the song was composed by the famous composer Liu Chi for the China Industrial Cooperation Movement, and expresses the "Gonghe" spirit of unity, cooperation and forging ahead.
In the 1930s, Soong Ching Ling, Rewi Alley and other patriots and international friends jointly launched the Gonghe Movement in Shanghai, aiming to achieve economic and social equity through cooperatives and build a harmonious society. No. 4, Lane 1315, Yuyuan Road, is the former residence of Rewi Alley and the birthplace of the Gonghe Movement. In 2014, while reviewing a collection of hand-engraved mimeographed works of precious vocal works from the Yan'an period, Liu Chi's son Liu Xinxin discovered the original manuscript of "Song of Gonghe" composed by his father for the Gonghe Movement, and later added piano accompaniment. After
contacted Liu Xinxin, in September 2023, Tao Yong, chairman of the board of supervisors of the China Gonghe International Committee and the first "guardian" of Rewi Alley's former residence, obtained the consent of the International Industrial Cooperation Organization for the Fenghua Choir. The opportunity to officially sing "The Song of Gonghe" was born, and this was the first time it was sung at the Jiangsu Road Street Group Cultural Team Performance.
It is understood that Yang Jin, a national first-class actor, participated in the rehearsal and guided the song singing. For the success of this first singing, in December 2023, Liu Xinxin made a special trip to the Jiangsu Road Street Community Cultural Activity Center to rehearse and guide this song performance for the Fenghua Choir with 25 years of singing experience.
In January 2024, "Song of Gonghe" was sung for the first time in Jiangsu Road Street. "This song has returned to its birthplace, and this performance is very meaningful. During the performance, we felt the power of unity and dedication conveyed by the Gonghe Movement." Huo Bai, leader of the Fenghua Chorus, said that future plans will be carried out "Song of Gung Ho" music video recording, and hope to have the opportunity to sing the English version of the song together.
