China News Service, Guangzhou, January 29 (Wang Hua He Xuan) On the evening of January 28, the Guangzhou Grand Theater Children’s Chorus 10th Anniversary Concert was held at the Guangzhou Grand Theater. The young actors presented 20 songs with different regional characteristics, including not only the award-winning "golden songs" that they flew to four continents to participate in previous world choral competitions, but also an original work that debuted for the first time: the children's chorus suite "Impression of the Bay Area".

At this concert, the young actors in the children's chorus suite "Impression of the Bay Area" used their pure and simple voices to sing about the Bay Area in three dialects: "Ke", "Cantonese" and "Chao". The best wishes from the Bay Area are “born from the same roots, singing with the same voice, and wishing the Bay Area many good things.” Not only that, the children also played folk music, danced water sleeves, and posed in the chorus, and the Chaozhou gongs and drums and Yingge sticks were also played in style.

This work is a work commissioned by the 2023 Guangzhou Literary and Art Quality Support Project and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Guangzhou Grand Theater Children's Choir. According to the composer, Professor Cao Guangping, the suite description selects the three most distinctive music styles of the Greater Bay Area: Hakka folk songs, Cantonese opera, and Chaozhou opera. The bamboo flute is used to express the high pitch of Hakka folk songs, and the Gaohu is used to express the Cantonese opera. It is lively and uses English singing sticks and Chaozhou gongs and drums to show the valiant and fighting spirit of Chaozhou, showing a strong regional identity. This work also combines performance with chorus, adding instrumental music and dance, showing the diversity of choral theater.

Liang Lizhen, the lead lyricist of "Impression of the Bay Area" and the founding director of the Guangzhou Grand Theater Children's Choir, said that the suite is divided into three parts, each in Hakka, Cantonese, and Chaozhou. The creation was mainly based on the fact that the major ethnic groups in the Greater Bay Area come from these three language families.

Including "New·Qingpingle·Village", "Miao Fei Song", "Qi Duo Lie", etc., most of the songs sung in this concert are the award-winning songs of the Guangzhou Grand Theater Children's Chorus in the World Chorus Competition. The Guangzhou Grand Theater Children's Chorus, established on September 15, 2013, has flown to 4 continents, 4 oceans, 90 cities, a total of 75,820 kilometers, and a performance of 3,860 minutes, using the natural sounds of children as a medium for cultural exchange and dissemination. , became the first children's choir funded by the National Arts Fund, and has won a total of 17 international awards, including five gold medals at the World Choir Competition.
