These 40 sites include 10 from the prehistoric period, 11 from the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, 13 from the Han and Tang dynasties, 5 border ethnic and religious sites from multiple periods, and 1 cave temple site. The ruins of the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties include the Taosi Temple Site in Xiangfen, Erlitou Site, Yanshi Shang City Site, Huanbei Shang City Site, Anyang Yin Ruins Royal Tomb Area, Yin Ruins Da Sikong Nandi, Wangzhuang Ruins and the Song Dynasty Ancient City, Jiangxi The Warring States Tombs and Acropolis in Zhangshu Guozishan, the Fuwei Site in Laishui County, Hebei, the Zhouyuan Site, and the Fengjing Dayuan Village Pottery Site.
The ruins of the Han and Tang Dynasties include the water inlet area of the Cao Canal and Kunming Pool ruins of the Han and Tang Dynasties, the No. 1 building ruins in the "Mingguang Palace" area of Chang'an City in the Han Dynasty, the palace city ruins of Luoyang City in the Han and Wei Dynasties, Wei Lifang in the north of Luoyang City in the Han and Wei Dynasties, and the Yecheng ruins in Linzhang, Hebei Province. Gongcheng District of the Eastern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty, Hebei Linzhang Yecheng Ruins, Walnut Garden and Beiqi Buddhist Temple and Zhuming Gate, Yunnan Zhaotong Zhuti Ancient City Ruins, Sui and Tang Chang'an City Ruins, Qinghai Dulan Hotwater Tombs, Sui and Tang Luoyang City Zhengpingfang Ruins, Tang Dynasty The ruins of Yangzhou City in the Song Dynasty, the southern building foundation of the Shangjing Imperial City in the Liao Dynasty, and the ruins of Guzhou City No. 4 in Xiongxian County, Hebei Province.
The archaeological sites of border ethnic groups and religions are Husta Ruins in Wenquan County, Xinjiang, Beiting Ancient City in Jimsar County, Xinjiang, Hannoi Ancient City in Kashgar, Xinjiang, Xidianliang Ruins in Aohan Banner, Inner Mongolia, and Qingshiling Mountain City in Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province. .
The cave temple site is the Tuyugou Grottoes in Xinjiang.
