On the evening of January 19, the Meet·2024 Hubei Province Welcome New Year Folk Music Performance was held in Wuhan Optics Valley. This is an audio-visual feast of new folk music and Chinese style, where traditional folk music and popular hits collide, pipa and guitar harmonize, and hip-hop dance mixes Chinese style. Nearly 3,000 Optics Valley enterprise employees and community residents participated, and millions of netizens watched online.
This event is guided by the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and hosted by the Hubei Provincial Mass Art Museum and the Propaganda Department of the Party Working Committee of East Lake High-tech Zone. The concert has a total of 12 programs, integrating Chinese style music and electronic pop music across borders to create an innovative and immersive music fantasy.
There were traditional folk music at the scene, such as national first-level conductor Zhang Lie, "Chinese Erhu Queen" Song Fei and other master performers jointly performed "Horse Racing", a song dreaming back to the vast grassland, with thousands of horses galloping majestic; there was also nostalgia Golden songs such as Luo Dayou's "Childhood", Huang Zhan's "A Laugh in the Sea", and Gu Jiahui's "Iron-Blooded Heart" take the audience through time and space; there is also the national style street dance "Man Jiang Hong", where young actors dance with passion and iron bones.
One of the programs, "Ambush from Flying Daggers" was performed by the Guanggu Jingluo Band. The band's lead singer and guitarist Du Xiaojun said: "This is a new folk music work that we innovatively experiment with. We hope that through the cross-border integration of folk music and electronic music, more people I can understand China’s local music culture. This time I performed in Optics Valley, and I felt the enthusiasm of Optics Valley people and the very dynamic cultural atmosphere.”
The concert also threw out a surprise “Easter egg” at the end: a popular subject on the Internet. At the Optics Valley stage, Hubei’s “Historical and Cultural Celebrities Group”, which had appeared on Central Street in Harbin a few days ago and became the focus of check-ins, actually appeared on the Optics Valley stage, with “Qu Yuan”, “Yu Boya”, “Zhong Ziqi” and “Wang Zhaojun” dancing to their heart’s content , leading the audience to join in and welcome the New Year happily.
The Hubei Cultural Tourism Public Service Cloud Mini Program "Cultural Cloud Enjoyment" was also released on site, which allows you to watch various cultural feasts online and achieve 24-hour cultural services. The performance was broadcast live through the National Public Culture Cloud, Hubei Publishing, Yangtze River Cloud, Jimu News, Hubei Cultural Tourism, China Optics Valley, Cultural Cloud Sharing and other platforms, attracting more than 1.34 million online viewers. Before the performance, there is also a Spring Festival couplet delivery activity in the hall of the venue.
It is reported that most of the audience participating in this event are young people, many of whom are from Optics Valley technology companies such as China Information Technology, Wuhan Tianma, and Amap Infrared. The audience said: "The performance was wonderful and it was fun to watch. It turned out to be a national style and folk music. It can be so trendy! I hope there will be more activities like this in Optics Valley in the new year.”
