Generations of Corps members have taken root in the desert to fight against the wind and sand, building green corridors and ecological barriers between the deserts. The movie "Guardian" is based on Wang Xianhua, a national greening medal winner and a ranger from the 31st Regiment of the Second Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and tells the touching story of several generations of Corps members who have made silent contributions and created a miracle of green advancement and desert retreat.
"Guardian" expresses the creator's value pursuit from three dimensions. First, it is a tribute to the spirit of the Corps. The older generation of Corps members, represented by Production Section Chief Song Yanjie and his wife Guo Shifen, have taken root in the Corps and the desert like poplar trees. Song Yanjie took huge risks to secretly study the method of raising Populus euphratica seedlings. Guo Shifen supported Song Yanjie regardless of other people's opinions, and the two became life partners. When the wind and sand were raging and the situation was critical, Song Yanjie asked his newly married son-in-law Wang Suozhu to work as a forest ranger. Wang Suozhu willingly stuck to the No. 3 Watchtower in difficult conditions and overcame countless unimaginable difficulties. Second, it is a celebration of ecological civilization. "Guardians" vividly shows the catastrophic consequences of ecological environment degradation. The sky full of yellow sand, the rapid shrinkage of reclamation areas, and the difficulties of production and life have made people call for ecological civilization from the bottom of their hearts. With the efforts of Song Yanjie and Wang Suozhu, the beautiful picture of green advancing and sand receding has made people sincerely praise the construction of ecological civilization. Third, it is a celebration of national unity. As a film that focuses on the story of Xinjiang and reflects the life of the Xinjiang Corps, "Guardians" talks about national unity, which is what the title should mean. The interactions and mutual assistance between Song Yanjie and Wang Suozhu and Uncle Hasimu’s family are a vivid portrayal of national unity. Back then, Hasimu's wife Tunisha Khan suffered heavy bleeding when she gave birth to a child, and Guo Shifen donated blood for her; on a sandstorm night, Song Yanjie's daughter Song Qian gave birth early, and Hasimu and Tunisha Khan braved the wind and sand to deliver Song Qian's baby.
