"The Passage" is written, photographed, and edited by Huang Shuli, starring Chen Simu and Huang Shuli. The film was shot in Frankfurt, Germany, and depicts the reunion of two men in a foreign country. It is worth mentioning that Huang Shuli's last work "When I Look at You" won the Cannes Short Film Queer Palm Award.
"The Moon Also Rises" is director Wang Yuyan's second entry into the Berlin Short Film Competition after "One Thousand and One Attempts to Become an Ocean". The story tells the story of artificial satellites that will be launched into space to eliminate the difference between day and night. An elderly couple retreat into the increasingly dark apartment, illuminated by digital devices.
Director Lin Yihan's "Japan Visits Ancient Times" was shortlisted for the 17th First Youth Film Festival and won the honor of Pioneer Creation. The film tells the story of a fashion advertising crew who came to the beach to shoot, but accidentally discovered that the installation that the art team had built in advance had disappeared due to the high tide of the sea. With the efforts of an art assistant, the crew's drone flew to the sea to search for the device, while taking the characters in the story and the audience into an unknown situation.
The short film "Hot Day Afternoon" is directed by Zhang Wenqian and focuses on a six-year-old girl, Xiao Qi. Because her father works in Shenzhen, China and rarely comes home, she lives with her mother's family of origin all year round. On a hot noon at the end of the 20th century, she watched the figures of adults flickering in front of her eyes like shadows.
The Berlin Film Festival will be held in Berlin, Germany from February 15 to February 25, 2024.
