He Xueqiang is the squad leader of the fifth squadron of the Longnan Detachment Cooperation Brigade of the Gansu Forest Fire Corps. As a squad leader at the grassroots level, he has led more than dozens of firefighters in the 9 years since he joined the team. Some of them have passed the exams and promoted themselves, some have grown into the backbone of the squadron, some have taken the position of squad leader like him, and some have retired and gone to other places to shine in the new environment.
With nine years of firefighting career, He Xueqiang’s spirit of “carrying the red flag and fighting for the first place” and his tenacity in facing urgent, difficult and dangerous tasks have long been engraved in He Xueqiang’s bones. During a material transfer mission, He Xueqiang saw an independent and dilapidated small house. He knocked on the door and entered. He saw that there were very few items in the house, only a coal-burning stove, an old bed, and a few rusty items. Daily necessities, an old man is adding fuel to the coal stove to keep warm. The old man is hunched over and moving very slowly.
Seeing this, He Xueqiang greeted: "Old man, how can I help you?" The old man didn't respond to him, so he greeted him again, but there was still no response, so he walked up and patted the old man's arm. Only then did he realize that the old man in front of him did not have very good hearing, so he helped the old man add firewood and continued to transfer supplies.
A few days later, the prefabricated houses at the centralized resettlement site were built, and the affected people in the village needed to be moved to the centralized resettlement prefabricated houses. He Xueqiang immediately thought of the old man Shi Jianhu, so he led several teammates to the old man's home. , the old man was on crutches and his legs and feet were not very convenient, so He Xueqiang carried the old man to the resettlement site, made the bed, installed the coal stove for heating, and stored some daily necessities.
