After "Sniper" and "River Red", Zhang Yimou accompanied the audience to celebrate the Spring Festival for the third time with his new work "Article 20". A few days ago, the film held a press conference in Beijing. Zhang Yimou and leading actors such as Lei Jiayin, Ma Li, Zhao Liying, Gao Ye, Liu Yaowen, Wang Xiao, Pan Binlong, Wang Peilu and others appeared for exchanges.
Zhang Yimou's creative status has recovered in recent years. Not only is his filmmaking speed fast, but the market response is still "top-notch". The new film "Article 20" has an all-star cast, including almost the most popular actors in recent years. Actors who were not present at the press conference that day included Chen Minghao, Zhang Yi, Fan Wei, Yu Hewei, Xu Yajun, Li Naiwen, Jiang Qiming, Aruna, Yang Haoyu, Qiao Shan, Jiang Shimeng, Ding Yongdai, Liu Yitie, etc. The film uses realistic themes and the perspective of a small person as an incision to show the justice and humanity behind Article 20 of the Criminal Law on "justifiable defense". The style is light and humorous. The protagonist risks everything and relies on his own efforts to achieve fairness and justice.
Following the police officer Su Jianming in "Sturdy as a Rock" and Qin Hui in "River Red", Lei Jiayin collaborated with Zhang Yimou for the third time and played the leading actor Han Ming in "Article 20". Han Ming is a temporary prosecutor. When he reaches middle age, he wants to give his career a last try, but unexpectedly gets involved in a hugely controversial case.
Lei Jiayin said on the spot that he was honored to have collaborated with Zhang Yimou many times. "As an actor, I can keep all ages in the image and see my own growth and changes. I am sincerely grateful to (the director)."
In the film, Han Ming, Li Maojuan, played by Ma Li, and Han Yuchen, played by Liu Yaowen, form a family of three. Although this is the first time for the three of them to work together, Lei Jiayin said that there is no sense of distance between the three of them when they act. He also joked that the status of this family is "a queen with two sons." Ma Li responded that the husband and son in the film made her feel "tired". She revealed that Li Maojuan is a humorous, intelligent and cheerful woman. "She is an ordinary citizen, but she is a queen at home."
Liu Yaowen, who plays the son, is a very popular actor at the moment. He recalled that the first shot he took of the entire movie was of himself, which made him extremely nervous, "When I was filmed riding a bicycle, my hands were all sweaty." Zhang Yimou commented that Liu Yaowen's performance was very relaxed and he looked like a student. , "I told him, since you don't understand (acting), don't act, just be as natural as life."
Zhao Liying, who collaborated with Zhang Yimou for the first time, played a hearing-impaired person in the film. She modestly said that this time she appeared mainly to learn. She learned about the hearing-impaired community in advance, wore earplugs on the set, and tried her best to communicate with everyone in sign language to get closer to the character. She said that this time she bravely accepted the director's trust, threw away all distracting thoughts, and immersed herself in the role, hoping to deliver an answer that would satisfy both the director and the audience. Zhang Yimou bluntly said that Zhao Liying brought him a big surprise and she broke through his ceiling. He also revealed that Zhao Liying did not talk to others on the set, including Zhang Yimou. Later he found out that she was looking for character status by doing this.
In the movie "Hawthorn Tree Love", Gao Ye played an inconspicuous nurse. In "Article 20", she plays prosecutor Lu Lingling and is Han Ming's partner. Gao Ye lamented, working with Zhang Yimou again, her mood was: It's finally my turn! She admitted that she thought she wouldn't be very nervous, but she didn't expect that she could hear her heartbeat on the first day of filming.
When talking about entering the Spring Festival for the third time, Zhang Yimou summed it up with the word "thousands of households", hoping that "Article 20" can enter thousands of households.
