Although Wang Dayong caught him, the process of catching him was really tortuous. Cheng Bing had been chasing the murderer for many years, and the various subtle clues were enough to make people's heads ache.
Cheng Bing was able to finally locate Wang Dayong from a series of clues, which is also impressive.
The drama version of "The Three Brigades" ended with Wang Dayong naturally being arrested, which was the same ending as the movie version of "The Three Brigades" starring Zhang Yi.
