On December 19, according to Guiyang Public Security Bureau, a case of cross-provincial trafficking of rare and endangered wild animals recently uncovered by the Guiyang County Public Security Bureau was transferred for prosecution. In this case, 51 suspects were arrested, including pangolins, leopard cats, eagles, etc. There are more than 5,000 wild animals, including national first- and second-level protected animals, with a total weight of 4 tons. The estimated value of the seized wild animals is more than 2.4 million yuan. This case is a gang case that harmed precious and endangered wild animals that has been cracked by the Hunan Provincial Public Security Bureau in recent years, involving the widest area, the largest number and types of wild animals involved, and the largest amount of money involved.
In order to effectively protect wild animal resources and protect a harmonious ecological environment, the County Bureau Forest Brigade relied on the "Kunlun 2023" special operation to expand intelligence sources. In April this year, the police discovered a clue about suspected wildlife crimes during their daily work, saying that a trailer transporting wild animals was seized in the Ouyanghai service area of the Guiyang section of the Xuguang Expressway.
As the case was verified, the police discovered that the case was suspected of trafficking rare and endangered wild animals across provinces. After research and judgment, the county bureau decided to set up a special task force to further dig into the case. After multiple visits and investigations, criminal gangs that trafficked wild animals across provinces, including Hu, Hu, and He, gradually emerged.
After investigation, Hu and others from Dengzhou City, Henan Province, secretly purchased wild animals from Henan, Hubei and other places under the guise of purchasing rabbits, pigeons, and cicadas. After disguising and packaging the wild animals, they transported them by self-transport or bus The goods were transported to Qingyuan, Guangdong by truck consignment, etc., and then sold by Hu's sister Hu Yuanyuan to He Moujun and others, and then distributed to Guangzhou, Foshan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and other places.
After interrogation, members of the criminal gang such as Hu, Hu Fang and He Jun confessed to the crime of trafficking in wild animals.
The police remind
that anyone who illegally hunts or kills rare and endangered wild animals under key state protection, or illegally purchases, transports, or sells rare and endangered wild animals under key state protection and their products, is an illegal and criminal act, and the public security organs must comply with the law. Crack down hard. The general public should actively protect wild animals, vigorously report poaching and killing, and consciously enhance their awareness of ecological and environmental protection.
