The recent drop in temperature has led to an increase in the number of "stroke" patients admitted to many hospitals. Why is cold weather likely to cause a higher incidence of cerebrovascular diseases? Which group of people need to be particularly vigilant? A reporter from the Yangcheng Evening News interviewed Professor Lu Zhengqi, director of the Department of Neurology at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.
A sudden drop in temperature can easily induce stroke.
Stroke is a general term for acute cerebrovascular accidents, commonly known as "stroke". Lu Zhengqi specially reminded that the elderly are a high-risk group for stroke and should be especially vigilant about the occurrence of stroke.
Experts said that temperature changes are closely related to the risk of stroke. For every 1 degree Celsius decrease in temperature, the risk of stroke increases by 1.13% and the risk of stroke death increases by 1.2%. This may be because when the temperature becomes lower, it is easy to cause the blood vessels to contract. After the contraction, the blood in the blood vessels will decrease. The elasticity of the blood vessels in the elderly will be poor, which will aggravate the insufficient blood supply to the brain. If the patient himself has High blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc. can also aggravate the occurrence of cerebral infarction.
If you want to have a safe winter, pay attention to these points.
Lu Zhengqi said that the elderly or people with high risk factors for stroke, such as people with high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and poor control, atrial fibrillation, cervical cancer, etc. People with atherosclerosis, sleep apnea disorders and migraines should first take measures to prevent colds and keep warm in cold weather, pay attention to changes in the external weather in time, add clothes in time, wear hats, masks, etc. to prevent catching cold.
Second, eat healthily. The daily diet should be diversified to ensure a reasonable intake of energy and nutrients. The daily salt should not exceed 5 grams, eat less oil, control cholesterol and carbohydrate intake, and avoid drinking alcohol.
Third, scientific movement. Healthy adults should participate in aerobic exercise 3-4 times a week, each time lasting for more than 40 minutes, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, etc. Middle-aged and elderly people can participate in fitness exercises that are beneficial to the body and mind according to their own conditions.
Fourth, patients with basic diseases must manage hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and other diseases, conduct regular physical examinations and reviews, receive treatment from specialists, and follow medical advice for drug treatment.
