On the tidal flat beside the Yangtze River in Wuhan, there is a large and continuous "reed swamp". Every autumn, the "reed flowers" look like snow, becoming a scene in the "River City".
Jiupai News recently learned that the Wuhan River Beach Management Office recently organized large-scale machinery to harvest the entire "reed marsh" on the Hankou river beach.

On December 12, you can see that several rotary tillers have entered the Hankou river beach for work. Rows of reeds are harvested and crushed by rotary tillage coulters, and are dug deep into the topsoil on the spot. Some areas are cleared by manual harvesting.
The person in charge of the greening department of the Wuhan River Beach Office told Jiupai News that the overall clearing of the reed marshes on the Hankou river beach was mainly for winter fire prevention needs. “After experiencing the wind and rain of this cold wave, the reeds that once flourished have declined. There is a greater fire hazard."
He also said that breaking the reeds and dropping them into the soil can also provide nutrients for the growth of the reeds in the second year, which is also an act that serves multiple purposes.
