As the new head of DC Films, James Gunn recently talked about the prospects for future DC games. In contrast, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has rarely ventured into the video game realm after Phase One, and has been more about offering small DLC, such as character skins, for games like Marvel's Spider-Man.

However, for the DC Universe, it will continue to tell its own stories and expand itself in the gaming medium. While we don't yet know how this development will work, there are concerns over whether all future DC games will have to be part of the new DC Cinematic Universe canon. This means that games like "Arkham Knight" will no longer be produced, and "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" may even become the last game.

However, James Gunn has clarified this. In an interview, he said that this will not be the case. Although he did not elaborate further, we can still expect DC games that have nothing to do with the DC Universe.
