According to the Energyprom website statistics, Kazakhstan civil coal prices rose 2.9% month-on-month and 10.8% for the year. Among them, the retail price of hard coal has risen from 13,700 tenge (about 206.6 yuan) per ton to 15,000 tenge (about 226 yuan). The highest coal prices in Taraz, and Uralsk were 19,500 tenge (about 294 yuan) per ton and 19,300 tenge (about 291 yuan) per ton, respectively.
In addition, Rezkazgan (16,400 tenge, about 247 yuan), Almaty (16,200 tenge, about 244 yuan) and Taldi Kurgan (16,000 tenge, about 241 yuan) ) also saw high prices in the coal market.
From January to August this year, the total coal mining volume in Kazakhstan reached 76.5 million tons (including lignite and clean coal ), an increase of 6.5% compared with the same period last year. Of this, 70.6 million tons are hard coal, 3.1 million tons are lignite, and 2.7 million tons are clean coal.
From January to July this year, Kazakh enterprises met 99.6% of coal demand (domestic sales plus export), compared with 99.4% in the same period last year. Coal production rose by 5.8% over the same period to 66.4 million tonnes. Coal imports fell 18.3% to 285,800 tonnes. Coal exports rose 16.3% to 20.9 million tonnes, while domestic coal sales rose only 1.4% to 45.7 million tonnes.
HGI said in early September that coal prices at the Shubarkol open-pit coal mine have fallen compared with 2021. The rest of the coal mines were at the same price as last year.
In addition, the minister of the ministry, Kerbek Uskenbayev, made it clear that coal reserves are sufficient.
