Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced the aid plan. She said Canada is supplying Ukraine with more supplies, from ammunition to gloves. The aid includes $15.2 million worth of ammunition from the Canadian Armed Forces stockpile, including 155mm NATO standard shells, fuze and M777 howitzer -compatible charge packs. Also included are 400,000 winter clothing items worth $15 million and additional drone-specific cameras worth $15.3 million.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), before announcing the latest package of aid to Ukraine, Canada had already pledged or donated about $600 million in military equipment to Ukraine. Earlier on the 11th, Canada also said that it would send 40 military engineers to Poland to participate in the training of Ukrainian military personnel, and they would instruct the other party to use high-tech detection equipment.

In a letter sent early last month, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov asked Canada to provide winter clothing as well as more armored vehicles and howitzers . But the new aid package doesn't include the new vehicles and artillery, which Anand said must be pulled from the Canadian Army's existing inventory and supply chain. She said: "As I announced today, we (Canada) are assisting with the provision of military equipment. As I mentioned earlier, we are assisting in training (Ukrainian personnel), we are assisting in Prestwick, Scotland The transportation of the hub.” It is reported that by assisting the transportation, she refers to the Canadian C-130J military cargo aircraft transporting weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian border.

On the 12th local time, at the meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Liaison Group at Brussels , more than 50 Western countries pledged to provide Ukraine with more military assistance, including the air defense system . And a military expert said the Canadian Army has no air defense systems to donate, and even if the Canadian side is willing to donate other equipment, the stockpile is just as tight.

Dave Perry, vice president of the Canadian Institute of Global Affairs, said: "I think we (the Canadian side) have effectively exhausted everything we could come up with a few months ago. Relatively easy and large-scale donation type, the problem now is to gradually do what we can do and wait for us to restock.”

CBC reported that at present, more and more Western countries are reluctant to spend more military supplies, fearing that if the West were involved in a war with Russia, its own military capabilities would be lacking. The report said that this may indicate that some countries need to increase military production, which was also discussed by ministers of the NATO countries at the meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Liaison Group.
