Tom Cruise is rumored to be spacewalking in new space movie

The

At some point in the future, Tom Cruise will travel to space to shoot a movie on the International Space Station , which is said to involve an actual spacewalk .

Cruise is known for performing many stunts in person, but a spacewalk will clearly make him one of the best. If it happens, he'll be the first civilian ever to venture outside the International Space Station, wandering about 250 miles above Earth at will.

According to Variety, Donna Lanley, the head of Universal Pictures, told BBC that hopefully Cruise will add the spacewalk to his list of accomplishments. She told the BBC: "We have a great project in development with Tom that really has him in mind." In 2020, then-NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine confirmed, The agency will work with Cruise to shoot a movie on the space station .

According to NASA, there have been 253 spacewalks outside the International Space Station since 1998. All of this is done by professional, qualified astronauts. Cruise has performed some impressive stunts and played adventurous roles, but arguably he will be the newest space voyager to walk outside the ISS to date.

Little is known about the film so far, including potential plot and projected shooting or release dates.
